AT & T CL4940 Answering Machine
This was easy to hook up. The display is large and easy to read. it has many features on it. I would recommend this answering machine to anyone who still has a landline .

Why not back up Date/Time?
Initial programing takes some getting used to. After setting Date/Time the option disappeared the menu. (I set it wrong) Unplug AC adapter & plug back in and now setting in menu was back but zeroed out. Manual says message recording is backed up but Date/Time is not. (Tried this several times) Great, another clock to reset @ every power outage. (Plugged into my computer UPS to solve this) Not sure if speed dial numbers are backed up since I don't use them. Super nice large/tilt display. Voice quality is good & answering system works very well. I really like this phone & recommend it. (Great bang for the buck) Over all.....very pleased. 👍

Got this for my mom after her stroke. The size of the large display buttons are perfect for her.

Terrible phone!
Terrible phone! I purchased this for my elderly mother thinking that AT&T would have a decent & quality telephone that would be easy for her to use. Messages cannot be retrieved or shows that there are messages on the display. I have recorded a message for incoming calls, verifying and listening to my recording and it does not play. It defaults to the standard message. Very disappointed in this phone. It is junk!

Landline Phone and answering machine…Works Well
Exactly as described. Easy to set up and use. Landline and Exactly what I needed it for. Call display is helpful, answering machine works. Stores phone numbers. Note the backlit display has model number lit up by default when there are no notifications. This cannot be adjusted, it is a minor annoyance but everything else is great.

Good product.
Price wise you can't go wrong. Speaker phone, big numbers, caller ID,answering machine. All the features a senior citizen needs on his telephone.Definitely recommend.

Excellent phone for hearing impaired users - but availability of parts is an issue
This phone is fantastic—large buttons, clear display, and speaker volume loud enough for hearing-impaired parents. The reason I gave it 4 stars is the power cord issue: it developed a short, and I had to buy a second phone to get a compliant cord, disposing of a perfectly good unit. Despite the extra cost, the clarity, volume, loud ring, and usability are excellent. A great option for elderly or hearing-impaired users—just be aware that if the cord fails, it cannot be purchased separately.

This is just what I wanted. Everything is as advertised. I am an old fart and hard of hearing. This phone is perfect for me as it lets one crank up the volume. Terrific buy at a reasonable price. I love it. I don't llve it so much now. The directions are for an entirely different phone.
