Mr. Lau's Version Authentic Chinese Take-Out BBQ Sauce 14.50 oz/411g

Good consistency, slight tang and sweet. If you think of Chinese American bbq sauce, you are probably familiar with this flavor. I use it as dipping sauce and homemade chicken wings coat. Even cleaned up the remaining sauce on my plate with hot rice. Will try for marinade next time.

If you're a fan of restaurant Chinese style BBQ sauce, then you should love everything about Mr. Lau's Version. It is sweet and savory and pours perfectly over rice, veggies, diced meat, and fish. My only gripe is that it's awfully high in sodium and sugar, though I realize that for a sauce like this, that's to be expected. It hits that perfect flavor profile though, so I'll give it a pass. The flavor profile is similar to hoisin except a little thinner and sweeter. I fully recognize hoisin is among the ingredients listed, so it's no surprise it tastes like hoisin. The flavor was ok, but the packaging could've been better. The cap was plastic sealed, but the lid still came loose and there was NO tamper proof seal under the cap. Sauce leaked out from the lid under the plastic seal. I was hesitant to even try it, but it's salty/sweet enough that I went for it. Didn't get sick, but I wasn't wowed by the sauce either.

Since this has no expiration date I had to go withLee Kum Kee Char Siu Sauce which is excellent.

Sauce has been great to use in a variety of dishes. Definitely better with fried food or rice, but still a good accompaniment to grilled chicken or beef. It's more tangy than traditional american BBQ sauces but still has a great taste without being overly sweet!

There's something so satisfying about finding a true hidden gem. I cook a lot of fusion dishes and a tangy, rich barbecue sauce is exactly what I was looking for and this smashed my expectations. I LOVE this sauce. Absolutely delicious.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered this, but I was quite pleased when it arrived.The seal wasn’t great when it arrived, and there was some sauce inside the bag that it came in. The plastic around the lid was intact, but it was still leaking a bit. I’m adventurous, so I tried it anyway.The flavor is really nice. It resembles “regular” BBQ sauce, but it has hints of ginger and is slightly teriyaki-like. I like it quite a lot. We’ve used it in several dishes, and it has gone well with everything.It is a bit pricey, though, for a bottle this size. I don’t know if I would have grabbed it off a grocery store shelf, but I’m glad that I got a chance to try this out. It’s very tasty.

Got the sauce today. Has a sweet forward taste which reminds me of the sauce on chinese spare ribs. No other way to put it besides GAS! Highly recommend.
