Streamlight 88901 Vantage 180 X Helmet Mounted and Right Angle Firefighter Flashlight with Helmet Bracket, Orange

The flashlight itself is excellent. The beam shape, intensity and color is well suited to firefighting. I bought this for a Phoenix LA Style helmet. The problem is that it does not mount in a location that feels unobtrusive. It crowds my mask, and causes a little glare off the facepiece because of where it has to be mounted.I had a Vantage for a traditional helmet. That set up was perfect. Unfortunately, it won't mount properly or securely to my new helmet.

Im a big fan of streamlight products, but this one fell short for me. The section that holds the clip to the flashlight delaminated and fell apart. It's seen regular use as expected on a fire department, but nothing that I would consider extreme. A helmet light is something I simply can't live without and while I'm sure streamlight will honor it's warranty, when I buy a product from this company at this price point, I expect it to last and be dependable.

Great alternative to the regular vantage helmet lights. The ability to angle the light out of people's eyes is handy, the ability to remove the light from the mount is also very handy. However, it's size and general shape make it difficult to mount to my helmet in a manor that makes the light both effective. And out of the way of my helmet strap.Where is at right now, I have a slightly difficult time with my startup which does impede my ability to mask up quickly. Maybe I just need to train more, but I know I would be able to mask up faster if I didn't have to bother worrying about if the strap is tangled in the light.

I got this flashlight just this week, and haven't had a chance to try out for real yet. But walking around with it in the yard, it's awesome! I bought it to shoot fireworks shows, so my application is not firefighting. I needed it to mount to a regular hard hat, which I was a little worried about. No problem! Mounts perfectly, and swings around enough to put the light wherever I want it. I could see that possibly, the light could maybe encroach on your vision in this application, but for me it's not an issue. I was also worried that 250 lumens wasn't going to be enough. It is. I am slightly disappointed that Amazon doesn't seem to carry the 18650 USB chargeable battery for it. Would certainly buy again.

I purchased this light for my work helmet at my part-time job. It appears to be just a bright as my Vantage light from Streamlight. The nice additional features of this light are, It is easy to remove from the helmet mount for handheld use or clipping it to a uniform shirt. The 90 degree feature makes the taillight go from blue to white. This provides extra light down at your feet to help you see and reduce changes of tripping. The CR123A batteries are readily available and not too expensive; they work at a wide temperature range, so storage in the trunk of my work vehicle during the winter does not affect the brightness of the light. I haven't exposed this light to extreme heat from a fire yet but if it is like other lights from Streamlight I expect nothing but the best from it.

I like the brightness and the light that shines down into work area. I don't like two things about this light. First is that mine is impossible to turn on or off with gloved hands. The button is recessed too far into the housing and needs a finger tip to activate. Second is that the hanging clip for front of turn out coat is too narrow, so the light flops side to side with any body movement and the light doesn't stay shining forward where I want it.

I didn't want a flashlight that hung off the front of my turnout coat. This light mounted easily to my helmet with the provided tool, and stays fixed even with rough abuse and throwing my helmet around. The light allows great positioning of the beam where I want it, and doesn't make the helmet feel wider or more cumbersome. I don't even notice it's there, and it's easy to reach up and flick it on when I need it - even with my gloves on. Well designed, and I'd definitely purchase again. I haven't gone through the first set of batteries yet, but so far, the batteries it came with are still running strong.

Only reason I bought another is my old one was stolen off my gear. Works great, love having a helmet mount for my traditional helmet, easy to install/remove, and the quick release makes it easy to take off and hand-hold when needed. Will say bring extra batteries on your gear, always runs out of charge when you need it the most. - Jake "Goggles"
