Essential to Your Metalsmith Journey
I’ve had the book since it was released, and this is STILL the book I reach for again and again in my library. Detailed and clear pictures of each tool and how they are used and why you need them. The tips throughout are helpful. I also really appreciate the projects. Each one has a detailed materials and tools list plus tips.I’m such a fan of this book and believe it is essential for learning to metalsmith, so I bought copies for my local library!

My wife is really loving this book... and learning a lot
A few months ago my wife took up jewelry making at my suggestion - she loves her pieces she's bought over the years and I started to feel like it was something she'd find joy in making herself. I was right: this has become a great passion and she spends a good deal of time every week reading, researching, and improving her skill set. She found Metalsmith Society’s Guide to Jewelry Making: Tips, Techniques & Tutorials... online having heard of the author, Corkie Bolton, through her research. So apparently Ms. Bolton is a successful jewelry designer and crafter and from what my wife was finding online, also teacher. She had to get the book, so we grabbed it and my wife is thrilled. She spends her free time reading, learning, reviewing sections, and applying things while she's in class. The book and class have given her enough confidence and knowledge that she's now buying her own tools for home and beginning to practice here. This weekend she attended her first gem show and felt things she has learned from both her instructor and Ms. Bolton helped her feel confident enough to go - and buy a number of stones. I tried to give you a flavor of the book via the photos without giving away the farm. I think what I take away from spending my own time going through, is how well Ms. Bolton is at 1. images, 2. instructions, and 3. explanations that combine to help one understand individual concepts. Certainly this coupled with the things my wife is learning in class is stronger than the book on it's own. Yet my wife feels things she has not yet been exposed to in class she would feel comfortable trying at home - I think that speaks to the book being well written. Not only does Ms. Bolton provide well thought out and provided steps and explanations for creating in various methods, but pay attention to the Resources section - it is a good one. In addition to this book, Metalsmith Society’s Guide to Jewelry Making: Tips, Techniques & Tutorials..., Ms. Bolton operates a website and the Metalsmith Society online. There you'll find even more resources and items for purchase that support what she writes about and how she helps - what I think are - beginner to intermediate metalsmiths in learning and expanding their knowledge and craft. In the end, this book, Metalsmith Society’s Guide to Jewelry Making: Tips, Techniques & Tutorials... is a great support and teaching tool for my wife and she's very pleased with having it. We highly recommend it.

Corkie’s Metalsmith Inspiration
This book is absolutely fantastic! I’ve been completely engrossed, reading it nonstop. The tips are incredibly insightful and have been a game-changer for me as someone new to metalsmith. I’ve learned so much and feel truly inspired. My only disappointment is that Corkie has only written one book—we need another masterpiece from you, Corkie! 😊

PERFECT BOOK for SOLDERING JEWELRY BEGINNER’S!
This Book has all the details a beginner in the Soldering Jewelry Business could possibly need. There is so much difference in opinions out there. It makes teaching yourself something like this difficult. With this book in Particular it can be used a desk reference for all you need as well as terms. She is very detailed. You can tell she know exactly what I meant by how “overwhelming” it can be because it is like she wrote the book for those of us who just want a simplified reasonable way of learning without buying the internet of all the things we don’t need to get started. Appreciate this book and HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

Ultimately THE Best Handbook
I love the explanations on the various firescale & flux options, what specific tools are used for, tips from the community and the ultimate alternative to using a crockpot for pickling!I stopped working with Jewelry about ten years ago to pursue my dream degree. Now that I have accomplished the degree, I miss designing. And yet there are all these awesome new tools and techniques!! If you’re new to making jewelry, or getting back into the metal-smithing world - this is a great book.
