The real McLaren F1 has a rather sinuous profile. This particular 1:43 build is more "wedgy" than curvy. When I squint at it from certain angles, its overall side profile's girthiness sometimes reminds me of a Bugatti EB110 from the 1990s, which the more coke-bottle inspired F1 GTR truly isn't. I know the old 1/43 McLaren F1s from Paul's Auto Art and Minichamps from that same 90s era as the real F1 got the sculpting of the body more or less spot-on (since I own a few of those). This OPO just isn't in the same class when it comes down to nailing the design. Sure the Minichamps and Paul's Auto Art pieces usually retailed from $35 and up back in that time, but even the currently produced push-pull McLaren F1 from Kinsmart got the shape more or less spot-on, and those are typically found at convenience and corner drug stores for just under $6. Disappointing for the money. 1 1/2 stars.
