Nishiki Premium Sushi Rice, 80 oz

Great size and value! Premium for sure. I made sushi and it turned out perfectly! After reading a couple of reviews saying they had bugs.. I didn't experience this but I suggest transferring to a sealed container to be safe. Even though the material of the packaging feels premium, it does say on package that there are a few micro holes in it for breathing. This rice is so fresh and you can even see that when it's uncooked. It's delicious on its own, and it made perfect sushi rolls. If they keep the price, I will always be a loyal customer!

This rice is great. I cook it in my Aroma Housewares 20 Cup Cooked (10 cup uncooked) Digital Rice Cooker, Slow Cooker, Food Steamer, SS Exterior (ARC-150SB) and it comes out great! You really need to make sure you wash the rice very well though before putting it into this rice cooker. If you do not, the starch will collect on the bottom and crisp up causing some rice to crisp to the bottom. It isn't too bad and you can easily salvage 80% of the rice if this happens, but spending an extra minute washing it will prevent this. These crispy parts can actually be kind of tasty too... It is also great just eating by itself. if you want a more loose rice, look at a basmati or something other than sushi rice. I got this rice to make musubi, and have not been disappointed. The rice holds together well and has a nice flavor. It would probably be good to make sushi, as well.

Great quality rice

Good rice. Tastes good.

The bag is not great for shipping. It gets some tears and holes and some rice escapes. Luckily mine didn't leak too bad. It needs to be shrink wrapped or something. With that said though, this is great rice and it makes delicious sushi. With other rices I would have to wash for a very long time to get it ready for sushi (when the water runs clear) but this rice needs very little washing as it is PRE-WASHED. It's so convenient.

I was a little hesitant to give sticky rice another try because for some reason I simply cannot get the texture just right with other rices I've tried. This rice was perfect! The bag says it comes pre-washed, but I went ahead and rinsed it first anyway. It took only a quick 30 second rinse for the water to run clear so it had little to no starches on the outside which is a pretty good indicator it was in fact pre-rinsed. Using Alton Brown's stove top sushi rice recipe worked beautifully with this rice and produced a lovely sticky rice that held together great for sushi without getting gummy even though I had to cool it in a large mixing bowl instead of a traditional wooden bowl. I'm glad I made this purchase and will purchase it again in the future.
