Almost, but not quite...

Not quite as good as the previous books.I enjoyed reading this, as it seems to be bringing together all the various plot lines from the previous books, but it wasn't as involving to me as they were, hence the four stars.I think it's because the authors were trying to get as much detail put down as possible, before the final book, but that just made each scene far too fleeting, and without the intricacy I'd found before in their books. One example is the taking down of the AI that had so many people afraid of its power. The actual defeat of the AI was very much a damp squid, and was over so quickly, I started wondering why so much fuss was made of it in the first place! But don't get me wrong, all-in-all, I really did enjoy it, just not with the same intensity, I guess - and left with a feeling that it was rushed 😕So, looking at my reading list, it looks like I'm going back to the main series again - yay! It's now book 24 - or book 3 of The Kurtherian Endgame, if you prefer: Through the Fire and Flame!Yay! I'm back to Bethany Anne and Michael again!

Valerie at her best - except that the take down of the AI seems a little to twee for me - it just got hacked and absorbed in the end. Still a great read though.

I really liked the early Valerie stories and I do enjoy these but not quite so much but they are still a good read and I am still looking out for the next one.

A Bit Disappointed

I'm currently reading all of the kurtherian books in order. I'm really enjoying it as a whole and would highly recommend the whole extended universe. I also really enjoyed the original Valerie series and the previous ones in this series but this book left me a little disappointed. As other reviews have mentioned, the AI plot line feels very rushed and ambiguous in this one. There's no real explanation beyond "and it's done". I also found some of the references a bit much. One planet is lifted almost directly from dune with all the references that that entails. It felt jarring, and rather than be a nice nod to something, it just felt plagiarised if I'm honest.I'm still going to read #4 and, fingers crossed, it'll be a return to form.

Prime Enforcer - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Book 3 (of 4) in the Valerie's Elites series by three great authors Justin Sloan, Michael Anderle and P T Hylton, is Prime Enforcer. Its theme is. as usual, about Valerie and her Elites, including 'Captain Justice' Robin and introduces new allies Kalen and his forces. They separate as Valerie, with sidekick Robin, goes to find the missing Admiral of the Lost Fleet, after an SOS is received via Valerie's husband Michael, aka the Dark Messiah, saying the Fleet has gone into hiding after an attack. Meanwhile Kalen and his troops go to support and protect the Lost Fleet by joining together with their remaining crew.Together they are jointly able to delay the dominion of Talrek, the evil AI would-be conqueror of the universe. An all-action suspense saga with the odd humorous interval, Prime Enforcer is a satisfying read that will appeal to a wide variety of readers - more please!

A fun read

I’m enjoying the nods in these series to some of the greats. Frank Herbert’s Dune in this one. I recall being reminded of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game in another. A nice addition to the series.
