CARPENTER BRUT / LEATHER TERROR - After 2018's LEATHER TEETH, Carpenter Brut returns with LEATHER TERROR, the second of his imagined "Leather" trilogy. It continues the story of Bret Halford, who seeks revenge on the men who caused his trauma, the men who once stood between him and his high school cheerleader Kendra. Influenced by martial, industrial, and metal sounds - while leaving room for more pop and atmospheric parts - Carpenter Brut is the instigator of violence, the soundtrack to Bret's relentless revenge. Best Brut LP so far
I loved most of the Trilogy EPs but none of the releases since then have grabbed me.I pre-ordered this LP on the strength of the single with Greg Puciato alone and am listening fresh apart from that.Firstly, the pressing is great. Flat and sounds absolutely stellar. The only downside is the sequencing. Day Stalker is on side B but Night Prowler on side C. The tracks are supposed to flow into each other so that’s an utter mood killer unfortunately. This feels like the best version of a CB album so far to me - there’s a good mix of songs with great turns by Greg Puciato and I was blown away to hear Garm from Ulver too. The other vocalists are less known to me but suit their tracks perfectly. The instrumentals are bangers as you would expect from the man that gave us Roller Mobster. Really impressed with this whole LP. Best release of 2022 so far for me.

Some heavy Darksynth!
The 2nd album in the Leather Trilogy, much more metal than Leather Teeth with some great guest musicians including GUNSHIP. Very heavy!

Big fan even bigger disappointment
I have tried and tried to like this album because I’m a huge fan, but this sounds like a Dance with the Dead collection of B-sides. Nothing against DWTD but Carpenter Brut is better than this. This lacks invention, too death metal, terrible vocal choices and questions his integrity. Poor, will lose synthwave fans. In a niche genre we need Carpenter to stay true to his roots. Death Metal got it covered, we don’t want dark/synthwave turning its back. This is a good record for Death metal fans but I’m not going along for the ride.I’m annoyed, so disappointed. Thank the heavens for Kavinsky’s ‘Reborn,’ now that is a synthwave record of the highest calibre
