One of the grandest tales of adventure, Alexandre Dumasโs epic novel of revenge, perseverance, lost love, and self-inventionโnow a PBS Masterpiece miniseries starring Sam Claflin and Jeremy Irons โMy desert island book . . . No matter how many times I revisit it, I find new lines to appreciate, new narrative corners to explore.โโV. E. Schwab, The New York Times Book Review Thrown in prison for a crime he has not committed, Edmond Dantรจs is confined to the grim fortress of the Chรขteau dโIf. Best version you can buy
The quality of binding is good, even if it is with an uninspiring cover. The paper is a bit thin, maybe because of 1000 plus pages. Not to say this is the best version. The English is not difficult and there are plenty of notes to give us context of famous person, place and events.

great book, wish outer book cover looked fresh and new
The book itself is great. But the outside condition on book cover is a little beat up rough, wished it looked fresh and new. No issues inside the printed pages.

Book quality
Bought for โน407. There is No Tear or print error (there is minor scratches on cover; but it's acceptable) I covered up the book cover with translucent polithin so that it protects it form scratches. Go for it.

Pristine condition
I searched everywhere for this edition but it was sold out. The book arrived in perfect condition, despite being such a thick paperback the edges were intact, the spine was not broken. Its a original copy (not a first copy like I was dreading). I was skeptical that the pages were gonna be yellow, but the pages look completely pristine! You can buy it without any hesitation ๐ฅน

Fantastic Read
The Count of Monte Cristo is a wonderful, compelling story of love, loss, revenge and friendship. It is a long book but in the end, it wasnโt long enough because I would have loved for the story to keep going. I decided to read this book on the recommendation of a friend and also partially as a challenge for myself to see if I still had the focus to read something so long, given my modern day struggles with a short attention span. I did not find it difficult to read at all. I thought that this translation was easy to understand and the footnotes highly helpful given it was written in a much different time period. Do give this book a go. It might take you shorter to finish than you think.

Yes this is the Robin Buss translation !
This is about the clothbound edition by penguin. It is the only version I could find with the Robin Buss translation. It is the most modern and most readable translation in English. Highly recommended. I hope that one day Penguin will publish a bit more elaborate edition of this version. I think this book deserves it.

A Classic, for sure.
This story is wonderful. A great read. But read it when you have a lot of time. This one was/is a translation of the original text in French. It was a little hard to get into, but I loved it for the detail it gave me. I read a German translation that was not quite as 'attached' to the original style. I read that one from the first the the last word in one night. I just could not put it down. The English translation was more detailed and took a 'little' longer to read. It was also twice the volume. It is a great story for the person that believes in justice and revenge, where it hurts the most. At that time in the pocket-book. I loved the story and the author's style. The two translations were quite different, not taking away from the story line, however. A great story, well written and translated.
