Almost perfect! Easy replacement.
One piece of the hinge broke on my beloved and impossible to replace toilet seat. I could see that this hinge was almost identical. Rather than spend over $100 on a new cool seat, I took a chance on this hinge. Removing the old seat was challenging - righty-tightly, lefty-loosey but the bolts were upside down. Broke off the old plastic one but no problem. Spread papers down on a table. Put the seat down upside down and worked backwards, praying helps. The parts lined up. Removed the old hinge. Fastened the inside attachments using the old screws on existing holes first. Slight distance problem solved by using the new, smaller screws on one side. Then the outside ends. One side fit perfectly into the existing holes, but the other side was a tad bit off. Solved by using the slightly different design end parts from the old hinge with new screws. Perfect! Many thanks for this truly unique hardware.

Good sturdy replacement hinge.
Worked great. Saved me from having to buy a whole new seat when the crappy plastic hinges broke. I had ti drill new holes in the seat, but that was easy. Warning - be careful when you take it out of the package because all of the pieces fall off the hinge tube and then you have to reconstruct the puzzle to get the pieces in the right configuration.

I would only recommend for use on a wooden seat
I would only recommend for use on a wooden seat. This hinge is very good quality hinge. Was not difficult to install, but it requires a little patience. First, install the post bolts into the toilet bowl. These are really your only two fixed reference points. Second, install the cross bar through the post bolts. The lid hinge brackets fit in the middle of the bar between the tank posts and the seat hinge brackets hold the end of the cross bar in place. Third, you have to judge for yourself how to center and align the old toilet seat with the toilet bowl. This should be centered on the left and right side of the bowl. Also be sure the seat does not extends too far out front or too far back. Basically, you need to be a little artistic with centering everything. Fourth, I removed all the parts and assembled on my workbench. I could not install the screws for the seat with the hinge installed on the toilet bowl. It was much easier on a table. Install the seat screws into the mounting hinge brackets. Be sure you center the brackets left and right, and keep the cross bar about 1/4" parallel with the rear of the seat. The screws did not line up with my old hinge. Be careful you don't drill through a thin part of the seat or lid, else the screws will come through. Fifth, I installed the seat and bar onto the toilet bowl. Sixth, To install the lid, I placed a small piece of wood underneath the lid as a spacer to align the lid when installing the screws. Again, the new screws did not line up with the old holes. I filled the old holes with wood filler. That was really it. Like I said, it requires patience. Also, make sure you spread the seat hinge brackets as far as possible. That will keep the seat from sliding side to side. The cross bar was wider then I expected. I did not realize it before I mounted the seat hinge brackets. Ideally I would have cut the cross bar about 1/4" shorter. This would prevent the seat from sliding side-to-side. One remedy as I mentioned, is to spread the seat hinge brackets as wide as possible before you attach the seat. Update # after about a month, the chrome finish is flaking off. I suspect this is caused by toilet bowl cleaners (lysol)

Great product, challenging install
I'm very happy with the finished product. It's quite sturdy and good looking. But don't kid yourself. Unless you have some fabrication skills & a few hours to invest, this project is not for you. Buy the cheapo individual plastic hinges. First off, no holes from the old hinges will align and the instructions are vague & worthless. This job would have been a real bear, except for the fact that a few fellow Amazon users posted their install pics--something the mfg does not provide. Thanks to them I was able to figure out how to approach this thing and managed to get everything all lined up right on the first try without having to drill holes over & over. In that spirit I will do my part and upload a few pics of my install. Hope that helps. Good luck!

This thing is an absolute bear to install
Looks okay; solved my problem of plastic hinges breaking after a few months, necessitating repeated purchases of toilet seats (I'm pretty sure the hinges that come with toilet seats are being made intentionally flimsy, as toilet seats used to last like a decade with no problem, including the hinges). It's extremely difficult to install though. I don't think most people would have the patience to try, tbh. It took me more than one attempt, and I ended up with extra screwholes in the first seat I added this to (I was doing two seats). better instructions for how this hinge fits together would've been nice. Also, for anyone attempting to install this, I would suggest having a nonpermanent marker on hand. That said, getting everything aligned properly is difficult.

Perfect replacement part for wooden toliet seat
Perfect replacement part for my wooden toilet seat. Heavy duty. I’ve had this replacement part for quite awhile now and don’t have to constantly adjust it like the one my seat originally came with. Easy to keep clean, and has not rusted or discolored.

WAY better compared to what it replaced
the crummy old plastic hinges were replaced by this new shiny hinge. it's a solid replacement. and it looks very nice by comparison to what was there. now that it is installed I realize that if I was installing another hinge I would do it different. removing the old hinges took more time than putting the on new one. the screws holding it were completely rusted. it took cutting, prying, and going slow to remove them without destroying the wood. next, I would not try to use the existing holes on the lid and seat. instead I would pre-drill small starter holes in the wood before screwing in the new. this would offer the benefit of placing the lid door hinges to prevent it from sliding from side to side. because the wood for my existing seat was pressed fake wood a starter hole would prevent the wood from splitting as the screw expands around it. but I didn't think about that because I wanted my "fix the toilet" project done as fast as possible. another word of advice, clean the toilet before, after the seat is off, and after the seat is installed during the installation job. you will want to remove the outline of "grim" left over from the original hinges. allot the time to to clean, fix, clean, fix, clean.

Wanted to pretty up the Guest bath
Didn't fit standard seat. Wanted to pretty up the Guest bath. It has antique French victorian design. I picked this product to give the seat a bit of the look. The dry fit was wobbly. Product didn't seem as if with minimal use (guest bedroom) it would present a solid or stable fit. I felt that it seemed like it would be a weekly exercise in tightening the toilet seat. Nevermind that I might find myself rescuing a house guest that slid off the toilet and got hit in the head by the seat. 100% the opposite of why I picked the product and what I'd be interested in. ..Looks are deceiving. Cheap product.

Great replacement for original wood toilet seat same design
Ordered as a replacement for a broken hinge on original Oak toilet seat same type of hinge . It fits exact in place of old one screw holes line up . Only issue had to grind end of tube as a little longer than original as I wanted to use old holes in seat . But once shortened a little fit like original part . Great fit does the job .

Make sure your toilet model is sized for this hinge.
In theory, the concept of a metal toilet hinge with a metal bar tying both hinges together for strength appealed to me & I was willing to pay more for that feature, HOWEVER the hinges when mounted to seat & lid, can slide sideways if your porcelain toilet hole hinge mounts are not spaced exactly 15.3cm apart, any more than that & it won't fit, any less & the seat & lid will slide sideways a bit, there's no mention of that in the product description, so much for theoretical good design. My Foremost brand toilet has hinge holes that are 14.1cm apart (measured from centre of hole in porcelain toilet), so I was prepared to cut the metal rod to a shorter length, but then I discovered that the forward offset in the hinge doesn't push the pivot point far enough forward for my toilet seat to stay up (that can also be affected by the position of your toilet tank, so your results may vary), so this seat wasn't going to work for my model toilet. Also, the hinge mounting screw holes are in different spots than standard toilet hinges, necessitating drilling more holes in the toilet seat & lid, while having to seal up the previous holes so liquid doesn't get in the wood. I'm returning the product.
