Highly Recommended!
This is an excellent read with short, captivating chapters that prompt you to want to find out what happens next. Comprehensively researched, superbly written and fascinating. If you want to be entertained, while learning about a remarkable time in American history, this book is for you.

Joseph Smith
I was so disappointed in Joseph Smith the Prophet King I could not finish the book. Running through the woods looking for gold was not my idea of a good family story. The book was roughly written and not interesting enough to keep my attention. I could not recommend this to anyone I know. There have to be better books about the Mormon founder out there somewhere. I downloaded this book onto my Kindle from Amazon and than goodness I got it free and did not waste any money on it.

Interesting treatment of Joseph Smith's early life
I have read quite a bit about the early history of Mormonism, including "No Man Knows My History." So the facts presented here are not new. But having the treated in the style of a novel gives them a whole new and more personal meaning. Mr. Taylor is surprisingly good writer, given that he has not written that much. I recommend this book (and its sequels, hopefully to come out soon) to anyone who wants to see Joseph Smith and the early days of Mormonism from a slightly differetn angle.

meh
Tedious...characters were totally unsympathetic. I DID finish the book, but don't plan on getting any of the sequels. Perhaps if you are a Mormon hater, which i am not, you would like it better.

A lot of history!
I am loving the history. It is evident that Mr Taylor has done his research. It is odd that the version I downloaded for my Kindle has corrections noted for the next edition.
