Mitee Bite 32066 6" TalonGrip Vise Jaw, for use with 4" & 6" Vises

I've run 10 -12 parts with various shapes and sizes using these jaws. They work great until you have to loosen the 5/32 HEX screws and realize they have torqued themselves down very tight during machining. The the 5/32 hex will strip as its very shallow and the screws are soft. This will render the jaws useless for any other positioning. I just stripped 3 out of 4 using a hardened precision 5/32" hex key. The hex in the screws is also a little sloppy making a bad situation worse.

It came with 4 bite claws, one for each end of each jaw, and one lateral stop for locating in Y. It locks squared material down tight, and is better than parallels for most jobs, and also allows parallels if necessary. I use it regularly and like it. I am making molds from pre-machined blocks that are square and parallel, so that helps, but it also works well with extruded aluminum bar just as well. Z is maintained well, under 0.0010" as best as I can tell.

Kind of expensive since I could have made it. But it works great! And it saved my time for other things.

the jaws are nice and they worked for a job or two. But I noticed right away that the screws would grip the threads in the jaws even under light tightening. By the third job two of the 4 screws stripped requiring me to drill out the damaged ones. Cheap screws.
