Really good dark romance
I was a little afraid to start reading Rina Kent, because there are certain types of dark romance that don't work for me and I didn't want to be disappointed. I decided to start with this book, as I want to read the whole universe and I am following the reading order on her website. I can say that this book did not disappoint.I'm not going to lie, in the beginning this book was not keeping my attention and I was struggling to connect to it. But then Astrid and Levi started growing on me as their relationship grow.I loved Levi as a love interest, he is so possessive which I love and he never crossed a line that makes me not like a hero in a dark romance. Everything he was doing was fine to me, he never made me question why she was falling in love with him.Astrid is my girl, I love her, so strong and not letting anyone put her down. Loved the growth of her relationship with her father and how she healed from everything that happened to her. Also, her parents love story is so cute, I would definitely read a book about it.I liked a lot the fact that there was a little bit of mystery about the two accidents. I think mystery always adds to the plot of a romance novel, I like when the romance has a strong plot behind to accompany the relationship, it makes you want to contine reading and never stop. The four horsemen are so funny and I really want to read more about them.To conclude, I really want to continue being in this universe, so I will read all the other books. I loved Rina Kent's writing, how compulsive it is, you never want to stop. All of my fears were completely dissipated, I hope I love all the others. I was missing dark romance, I am glad I'm back to enjoying it!

Not Bad
I actually give this 3.5 stars.I finally decided to dive into Rina's world. I was told to do the suggested reading order. Cruel King was ok for me. I know this book is her earlier works. I didn't find the book a dark bulky romance at all. I will say I did enjoy Rina's writing and I can see the potential in these characters. It was good enough for me to continue on with this series.I did love Levi & Astrid but I felt like I read this story before. The overuse of nicknames was a bit much and it did run a little long for me.Overall like I said I did enjoy the book and I can't wait to read about the other King Aiden.

A Great Beginning To A Whole Universe Of Stories
Cruel King is the book that kicks off the Royal Elite 10-book series. It tells the story of Levi King and Astrid Clifford.Astrid is a wallflower. She’s spent her time at Royal Elite School being invisible. She actually did not grow up with all of the elite students. It wasn’t until something happened to her mother that she moved in with her father [Lord Henry Clifford] and began attend RES.The summer before her senior year, she crosses paths with Levi King — the one person [besides his cousin Aiden] that she’s been commanded to stay away from. This one meeting between the two opens pandora’s box. Levi immediately sinks his claws into Astrid, as he too has been commanded to stay away from anyone with the Clifford surname. Why? Only time will tell. There’s a bit of bullying, a lot of enemies-to-lovers, but eventually, Astrid and Levi can no longer fight the pull between them. But when their parents/guardians catch them in the act, the truth of why they were told not to co-mingle is revealed — and it is devastating. With a new love budding between them, can Levi and Astrid let go of the traumatic past that ties them together?I loved reading Astrid and Levi’s story. I fell in love with all of the characters. They all hold their own and have their own personalities. I’m actually excited to dive into all of their stories and get to know them more. There are twists and turns in this book I wasn’t expecting. Astrid is put through the wringer — and not only because of Levi. There are so many stories being woven together in this book and they all seem to center around her, though with her memory missing gaps, it doesn’t all truly come together until the end. Thankfully, all questions are answered while at the same time leaving things open for other characters’ stories to be told [and that does include her evil step-sister Nicole and her best friend Daniel].While this is considered a dark romance, it’s pretty tame in my opinion. It’s dark in the sense that there are people trying to get rid of Astrid, but not as dark as other books in the dark romance category, so if you’re someone wanting a tamer book while still getting your feet wet, I would definitely start here. And if you’re wanting to read Rina Kent’s other books in her universe [especially Legacy Of Gods], then I definitely recommend you start here. While it’s not required, I found it cool to know the parents’ back stories for the future children whose stories are told in Legacy Of Gods.I give this book 5/5 stars.

Love
This book is milder than others in the sequence. It is, however, more romantic and heartfelt. It A good start.

Of all the Rina Kent men I’ve read so far Levi is absolutely the best! Intense but not overbearing and just so loveable. I love me a King.

Levi & his Princess
A perfect blend of angst, suspense, mystery & spice transformed into the book, Cruel King❤️🔥These two were a beautiful disaster from the start. Both Astrid & Levi have a troubled past that haunts them daily. Through many obstacles & as the dark comes to light, they find their way to each other to have their beautiful ending.- “She knows I won’t be her prince charming, but she still wants me anyway. If anything, she wants me because I’m not.”- “Astrid once told me I was a dark night. It’s on dark nights that stars like her shine the brightest.”✨I really loved the little excerpts at the beginning of every chapter, as if it was just a little thought just for them.Honourable mentions;- The father/daughter moment🥺😭❤️🩹- Astrid’s friendship with Dan- The hilarious banter between Captain & the Four HorsemenAll I can say is.. Karma really took its sweet time with Levi because no wonder he was blessed with the first twin being a psycho & Killian, & Niko, for son-in-laws🤭Because I’m so late to the party I don’t have anything new to add to all of the other reviews, except;I started with God of Malice and continued with the LOG series, now I’m starting from the beginning. This will be a long & emotional rollercoaster, I’m in it for the long haul♥️
