Very Different from T.Styles usual, but still good
I am giving this book 5 stars because in all honesty, it was good. I don't want to rate T.Styles against her other books because this one is so unlike those. This book is its own book in its own right and therefore must stand alone to be judged. The concept of this young woman, Farah having so many issues was a good concept. I can understand why her mind and perception of the world would be skewed. Farah's character development was very good, however I felt she never really grew. She grew into a monster and that is where she stayed. She never attempted to get any better, didnt appear to be capable of love, and had no remorse for anything. She was a certifiablle sociopath and she stayed one.I did like the character of Slade and his brothers, The Baker Boys. Their introduction to the story was quite a turning point for me because they were interesting, loyal, and for the most part "good" guys. Slade of course was a helluva man, and though he does bad things for the survival of his family, I still look at him as a good character. And not only good, but a caring character. I feel sorry for him that he has come to care for Farah, because as much as for his sake I wish that she would change and learn to value the life of others and respect love for another person, I don't think that is possible. She is damaged and I wouldnt wish her on the Slade character for anything. I do hope Slade finds someone else to love who ISNT Farah. All in all, this was a good book. I can't say im down with the things T.Styles had Farah doing. As an author myself, I can appreciate characters acting out in crazy ways but some things are even too sick for me to comprehend. The feces didnt bother me. The blood, on the other hand, did greatly. The thought of it made me want to vomit. For T. Styles to provoke such a response from me, I'd say she was very talented.5 Stars for the sheer will to write a very different yet engaging book. And though I like her other books better, I look forward to reading the sequel of this book.

Bravo to T. Styles
I loved this book and could not wait for part 2, in fact, I've already completed part 2. I read another individuals review, who in my opinion was dissing the plot and T. Styles writing skills. Obviously that person has not been exposed to the real world. I live in the DMV area and was born and raised in southern VA; and I watched this lightskin/darkskin racism everyday. In fact, I work with a female who father's side of family last name happen to be Cotton and she grew up in S.E. DC and she is very light and she acts just like Farah Cotton. I told her about the book and some other friends and we all agree that there is a lot of similarities. I know some of these stories may sound strange to some people, but until you walk in someone else's shoes please be careful when passing judgement. Farah Cotton and Redbone is fiction; my God it's just a book. However, I know for a fact that Ms. Styles would not be able to write these stories if some parts of it was not true. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a good read. I also recommend some other books Ms. Styles have written; (Raunchy 1,2,3; Shytlist 1,2,3,4,5). I know there's other books she has written that I have not had an opportunity to read yet, but I will get to them soon.Let's support each other instead of always being so critical.Keep up the good work Ms. Styles!

Damn . . . Can u say Drama . . .
Man oh man this book is beyond hot. I dont have to tell you what its about because im sure you already know. This book goes into great details on how parents can really alter their children's future. It did a great job on the back ground of the cotton family & shows why they do the things they do. I felt sorry for everything that their parents put them through. The story line was brillant, captivating, intense, & left you wanting more. The only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the ending left you with a major cliffhanger. & as long as this book was it shouldnt have been a need 4 a part 2. But all in all i am so getting part 2, i have 2 know what happens next. I recommend this book 2 all people who have an open mind & isnt afraid 2 read something out of the ordinary. This book u gotta have on your shelf if not, your book collection needs a serious update. . . So take it from me even though this book was super long u will enjoy it all the way. But ill give you a fair warning, the ending will piss you off til the point of no return lol . .

glad I stuck with it
OK first I was a little apprehensive because the reveiws were all over the place but then I told my self, this is T Stlyles and I know what she is capable of so screw it and give her a chance. I will admit, I wanted to say forget it, about a third of the way through thinking this is a huge book of bullcrap. But I couldn't put it down hoping it would pick up ...........and it did. It kept you on your seat and the ending is just cruel, I maean dang right in the middle of the biggest meeting there will ever be, you stop......... REALLY! I did find my self having to read some sentences two or three times just to catch on but overall it was a good book and you expect to find errors like that in a book a couple of times. I will agree with the other reviewers, there could have been less characters to keep the confusion down but what the hell, the book was good and I have to give her the props she deserve ONCE AGAIN. I just hope she started or done with the other one. One more thing, Mooney could of had a better position in the book then she did, that really confused me.

Hats off to you Ms. Styles
Where do I begin?? This book was absolutely amazing. T . Styles went hard with this one but I didn't expect anything less from her. This book told a story of a young girl desperate for love and acceptance from her mother who didnt love herself and was incapable of loving her children. Her way of showing love was through abuse and violence. Brownie Cotton was not fit to raise a pet turtle let alone children. This book was nasty, sick, demented and twisted and I loved every minute of it. I love how T. Styles dont hold back and let her characters go wild. This book showed the depth of her twisted mind and her fans love it!! If you are looking for your typical hood love story with the obvious ending, dont read this book or any T. Styles book for that matter. She keeps her fans intrigued from page one!! Another thing I can say is T. Styles does her damn research. Although some of the things in Redbone seemed outrageous, this is some real ish. T. Styles tells the dirty, nasty, raw, explicit, and down right raunchy truth in her books that some authors are too damn scared to release. I commend Ms. Styles for stepping outside the box and captivating her fans!!!
