If you would have told me 6 months ago, that I'd spend this kind of money on a butter dish, I would have told you - you were crazy!! But you know what? It is the most PERFECT butter dish I have ever seen! After going through several so-so butter dishes, I set out on a hunt for the exact one I wanted - and here's why this one "made the cut"...1. Black - is what I wanted - and not many out there to boot! "Charcoal" is what I ordered and that is the color I got - not too dark, not too light, "just right" - like GoldiLocks would say. It also has a very classy, shiny finish - I have no issue wiping it down when I need to.2. A Lid - didn't want a wood lid, plastic lid, but wanted a lid that covered it all and looked good doing it too! Check!3. Size - why hold 1 stick of butter when you can hold 2? A gourmet block of butter - yup, can do that too. This handles all that perfectly. Size or weight issues? Not for me - I can take it out of the fridge door with ONE HAND.4. Inside LIp and Grooves - Necessary in case the butter melts - you don't want it rolling of the dish, do you? Plus the grooves help keep it grounded so it doesn't take off like a 747 when you go in for a slice! 5. The Clay - Perhaps the most amazing feature of this "work of marvel" is the clay - it STAYS cold Nice and cold.. Worth the price of gold - right there.Lastly, some fine details - like the "H" very faintly embossed in the lid ON BOTH SIDES, just in case you have an OCD moment and have to have the "H" facing you everytime you put back in the fridge - and if you're first name or last name starts with an "H" - that a bonus for you!So, in summary, I highly recommend this dish. Holds 2 sticks of butter and a cover to protect them!! Nice dish!

I bought my Daughter a Blue Flame Emile Henry butter dish to replace the one my cat broke years ago. That’s a really nice butter dish and decided I wanted a Emile Henry butter dish and was very lucky to find your Burgundy Red Emile Henry Butter dish. Red isn’t my color but it’s growing on me and now my Kerrygold butter has the perfect butter dish! The package arrived well packed and in perfect condition. Thank you!

I do like the color and design of the dish, but the execution of the overall finish and QC are poor.The featured logo on the front of the dish lacks definition and the manufacturer’s marks on the bottom are barely legible. There is also an imperfection on the top of the lid.I would be hesitant to buy any other pieces from them considering you are paying a bit of a premium for a higher-end product.

Has so much class. However, almost too wide for my old hands. I would not, though, give it up for anything.

I buy the kerrygold butter (aka best butter ever) and the stick fits perfectly in this dish. We needed a good dish that the cats couldn't easily get into on the counter. We bought two of these so we could have one in the dishwasher while having the other on the counter. I am very happy with our choice. Everything I have bought from the Emily Henry line has been good quality.

Schale ist leider sehr klobig und schwer. Mit einer Hand ist das greifen gar nicht so einfach, ich befürchte die Dose wird uns relativ schnell herunterfallen. In der Zwischenzeit erfreue mich aber daran. ;)

Really stylish and great looking

Die Keramik von Emile Henry ist nicht nur funktional und langlebig, sondern auch formschön. Neben Auflauf- und Clafoutis-Form fürs Backen habe ich nun auch die langjährige Kunststoff-Butterdose durch eine Keramik-Butterschale ersetzt.Interessant vielleicht für deutsche Kunden: die Innenmaße sind auf französische Butterstückgrößen ausgelegt, weshalb die in Deutschland angebotenen Butterstücke etwas zu breit sind, wenn man die Ränder des Schalendeckels innen nicht anschmieren will. Dafür kann die Keramik natürlich nichts -- deshalb trotzdem 5 Punkte für Funktionalität, Langlebigkeit (wenn sorgsamer Umgang) und Formschönheit.
