Essential for most video production setups
I have a number of these and the flexibility of being able to use them for bidirectional signal sends is really convenient. This has a solid build quality and has held up really well without any issues with heat or cold.

Seems to work well with some caveats.
I have a bunch of BMD 3G and 12G converters. They're basically plug and play, although there are just a few options you can set (such as 3G A or B).I have a brand new MacBook Pro and have done some burn-in conversion tests where I set up an HDMI to 12G SDI test and let it run for hours or days at a time. At some point the SDI signal will die, even though the Mac has been set to never sleep or even use a screen saver. I haven't been able to isolate the issue, although the same setup with a Decimator seems to run indefinitely without a similar kind of signal loss.
