Three Principles of Effective Marketing, Well Explained (even if questionably illustrated)
The Hawke Method is an easily digestible book that illuminates three key principles for effective marketing of your product, service, and business. The writing is clear, the examples -- of both successes and failures -- are illustrative of the principles involved, and those principles are fundamental in nature, applicable to whatever kind of product, service, or business you are involved with. The author provides helpful "Pro Tips" along the way, and summarizes the key points at the end of each chapter, making it a good reference work after reading. The thing holding me back from a five-star rating is that there is a win-at-all-costs, the-ends-justify-the-means sort of thinking behind some of the examples. In one case, outright lying is extolled as a virtue ("sometimes you have to bend the rules to survive the game"). That's not how I want to play the game, and if it's required, then I won't play that game. I was put off by such examples. With that said, a) I don't believe that you have to be unethical to win, and b) I think the principles outlined are of value and make for a worthwhile reference, even to those committed to winning with integrity.

Everyone can learn from The Hawke Method
I have had the opportunity to interact with Erik, who is as sharp as they come. When I saw The Hawke Method, I was curious and ordered it...because I had met Erik. Having reads lots of marketing books over the years, I wasn't sure how much "new" information there could be. Well, I learned. I started the book late one evening and finished it the following morning...because it was that good. Not only was there new information, there was A LOT of new information, innovative thinking, great stories and new approaches, all told in a humble and self deprecating way. Anyone who works for an organization - that's right - any person, any organization, any level - can and will walk away with value add from this book. Five stars.

Great Overview
Hawks is a powerhouse and this book gives you great insight into their way thinking about marketing and building brands. I was looking for more specific tactics or strategies but what I actually received were some great ideas and some things to really think to help me improve my approach to marketing. Overall, it’s definitely worth reading.

Build winning market-creating strategies with this book!
For many, navigating the world of marketing is akin to trekking the wild west. Thankfully, Erik’s Hawke Method simplifies the journey using easy to understand principles of marketing that even ‘newbies’ like me can understand, and more importantly apply to create successful market-driven campaigns. The book demonstrates that marketing is more than just a numbers game, it also encapsulates an understanding of dynamic partnerships and relationships that help companies capture a larger and more valuable market than they could by working individually. The Hawke Method is a must-read for companies looking to implement cutting-edge, smarter market-creating strategies as a distinct competitive advantage.

Results over integrity
There’s a lot of value in this book, which is targeted at B2C marketers rather than B2B marketers. However, some of the advice in building brand trust are what I would consider shady. “Trust” does not mean what it does to most of us in terms of integrity and honesty. It means measurable brand loyalty, based on a variety of factors that may be nothing more than habit and familiarity over trust in quality. My takeaway is that there is no reason to Google “The 5 (fill in the blank) in the US because if Hawke Media’s tactics are universal, it’s completely bogus and not based on any metric or data but the ability of a marketing company to buy or barter an influencer to include that company brand. There is no meritocracy here just the cash to build illusion for suckers.
