AimpointMicro H-2 Red Dot Reflex Sight with LRP Mount and Spacer - 2 MOA - 200211

BACKGROUND: I recently bought my first long gun and had ordered the lesser brand optic that was on the one I had used at my initial lesson and subsequent range visit prior to COVID, figuring it was OK and I did not want to go around to a zillion gun stores trying out others. At the range, the lighting was uniform. But I bought this firearm for home defense and plan to use it while positioned in a low-light area with bright light focused on possible entry points so as to illuminate possible intruders. The lesser optic which supposedly switches between solar and battery power did not work under that setup, and even in uniform lighting the red dot was hard for me to see. (I have some vision issues.) A dear friend whose opinion I trust told me I need to get an Aimpoint, they are 100% reliable in any environment. I got a major case of sticker shock but he said when you're possibly talking about your life it's worth it to pay for the best. After a couple of days of thought I accepted that and went ahead with the purchase. Being that I did not want to add a lot of weight or bulk I had a choice between the T-2 or the H-2... I will not be using any night vision devices so I went with the H-2 to save some money.EXPERIENCE: The difference between the Aimpoint and the lesser optic is like night and day. The red dot is always right there, right away, regardless of the lighting setup, and I do not have any visual artifacts (probably attributable to my vision issues) with it like I had on the lesser optic. I just shoulder the firearm and it's perfect. I am soooooo happy! :)

This is my second H2. I’ve used Holosun 403 for a few years now with no issues, but wanted to upgrade to the aimpoint. Was not happy the PRO, so traded them plus cash for the H2. I have them zeroed for 50 yards & have been using them in sub zero weather with a bright sun for the last week. The dot stays round & visible. The dot hasn’t moved with temperature fluctuations as the 403 B and C did.In warmer weather & the rain, the H2 ran top notch during a two day training for red dots. First thing was to confirm the zero & then the training started. Roughly 750 rounds & the zero never moved. Still using that zero almost 9 months later.
