This is a great product
Got this to connect my printer to my laptop which are in different rooms, so now I don't have to carry my laptop to the printer every time I want to print. It is of high quality and should last a long time. I've been using it for a few weeks and it works every time no fail.

Great for shooting tethered on USB2.0 and USB3.0 Canon cameras
I got this to shoot tethered from Canon 5DIII on my 2008 iMac in my home studio - the iMac isn't for editing (it's a little old and slow for that), but for shooting remotely in Live view and checking focus, it's perfect! I'd looked at Tethertools cables, and whilst I would prefer their orange cables to this black one for visibility, you can't beat the price of this cable for those of us working on a budget. I chose a USB3.0 cable, despite the fact that my Canon is only USB2.0, because I didn't want to have to repurchase it if I upgrade to a newer DSLR that has USB3.0 (this is backwards compatible and will support both standards). In my initial testing, I have had no issues. I recently assisted a pro photog who had tethertools equipment, and we kept having to disconnect and reconnect the camera from Adobe Lightroom when it lost sync, which seems to be a common occurrence. This is likely to be down to the USB port of the Macbook pro not putting out enough juice to keep the connection going, and this is where it pays to choose a cable that has a signal repeater built in. 30ft is pretty long, probably enough for most photographers shooting in the studio, and in my initial testing I had no issues with making a connection to the camera, shooting, waking it up from standby, nor in transferring images. If that changes, I will update this review. In addition to this cable, I purchased a short USB2.0 mini cable to keep permanently attached to the camera, which plugs into this cable and allows me to disconnect on the fly - you can't attach this cable directly to the camera as it is just an extension cable. In theory you can daisy chain several of these cables together to get an even longer run, but I would be concerned about voltage droop and things not working reliably unless you put a powered hub somewhere in the middle to help boost the signal. The only downside of this cable is that it's pretty stout, but that's necessary to have decent gauge wire inside the cable to help signal propagation. It takes a little gentle massaging to straighten it out, and I can hear a light crinkling when I do that which makes me think the cable could be shielded, which will help prevent interference. You will need a short jumper USB cable to connect this cable to your camera, as it only has a female connector at the camera end, allowing you to choose USB mini, micro or what have you. I chose the Cerrxian 9Inch Mini USB Cable Combo as it had both left and right hand right-angle connectors. With that ziptied (for strain relief) to my $7 MPU-105 L Bracket from a certain auction site, I'm able to connect to my studio iMac and shoot remotely with no issues. For those working on a budget, this is a much more cost effective solution than Tethertools, with initial performance looking to be on a par with those products.

Simple. Bulky. One way.
It's as good as those we've used in the past. You do have to be careful about which way you are trying to send - from PC to USB device. Male end - PC. Female end/USB device. Seems to work fine for what we've been doing - which is just one mouse, one camera, etc. - at a time. Oh, and make sure the large end will fit through any holes you drill - it is bulky. Other than that, it's pretty much a standard such cable.

This made external backups easier
I have a laptop I use either at desk or in bed. I use a bunch of drives for backups and archiving, but I don't want to use a NAS. (Other people on the network, plus direct connection makes drive compatibility easier). This works great, as I can, in tandum with a USB hub, reliably use this anywhere in my room to attach to all my external drives, and other peripherals.

Fixed data errors over old 5m USB 3.0 cable
My configuration was computer <-> 5 meter passive USB 3.0 cable <-> powered USB 3.0 hub <-> two USB 3.0 external hard drives (5tb & 8tb Seagates). I was getting data errors with the passive cable. I junked the passive cable and replaced it with this ACTIVE cable. Problems gone. What's impressive is I see no speed degradation -- I had expected some. When you first plug the active cable in, drivers ARE installed (it looks like another USB hub, I guess). Anyway with/without the active cable installed I see the same CrystalDiskMark speeds.

Best USB cable out there for the price.
Very thick, well made. Works perfectly with the most demanding devices like high megapixel massive resolution astro cameras.

Works for My Webcam!
Have been trying to crack the cable length limitations on my USB 2.0 web cams. They say this is not for cams but it worked for me! 32 feet baby! I ordered two more.
