Review: warriors - My granddaughter suggested that I read this series! I’m so glad that she did, because I can’t put them down!! Excellent fantasy….
Review: Love the Warriors books - Love the Warriors books! The life of the feral cat clans is beautifully depicted. While not every detail of clan life can be scientifically accurate, if cats could live in the wild as if they were humans, this is absolutely how they would do it! This is the first of the Warriors Super Edition books I have read. I’m not sure if this is true for all the Super Edition books, but this one seems to serve in some measure as a sort of bridge between the Original Series and the follow-up New Prophecy series. After weathering incredible obstacles in the Original Series, Firestar is now the Clan Chief of ThunderClan, but he is still learning the job. He doesn’t have an official mate (I’m not sure if the Clan cats ever actually officially mate at all), but he and Sandstorm have grown close. Ever sensitive to dreams and the messages they may contain, Firestar is troubled when he begins having dreams of a cat Clan he has never heard of. But he is really scared when Smudge, a kittypet who used to live next door to Firestar in his kittypet days, comes into the ThunderClan camp, scared by a dream of his own. They consult Cinderpelt, the Medicine Cat, and some of the Elders, including some in other tribes. It appears that there was indeed another cat Clan in the forest, and their territory was where the group of houses where Firestar and Smudge used to live is now. Another dream reveals to Firestar how none of the current Clans of the forest were willing to give up any of their territory when this lost Clan – Skyclan – asked, and in consequence, Skyclan wound up exiled from the forest to make their way elsewhere. When the ghost of the ancient Skyclan repeatedly asks Firestar for help in his dreams, he determines that he must make up for the earlier injustice and seek out whatever remains of Skyclan to see what he can do to right that wrong. Most notably, he asks Sandstorm to come with him. Leaving Firestar’s deputy, Graystripe, in charge temporarily, they set out, following a nearby river upstream until it fizzles out in an area lined by cliffs with little caves in them – perfect for cat dens! But there is almost no trace of Skyclan. They eventually encounter one solitary and slightly hostile cat who spends many evenings watching the moon from the cliffs above the beginnings of the little stream. He finally confesses to belonging to Skyclan, and he tells them what happened to it. They decide to rebuild Skyclan. But it isn’t easy. Most of the former members of the Clan who are still alive are now kittypets in houses in the area. The rest are rogue cats living by themselves. Just getting them to agree to talk about rebuilding Skyclan is next to impossible. When they do get a few cats to agree to a meeting, they discover that Firestar and Sandstorm will have to train them in every aspect of Clan life, from how to hunt their own food to the hierarchy of a Clan and the rules that make Clan life run smoothly. And it wouldn’t be possible to have a Warriors novel without a dangerous enemy that appears impossible to overcome. In this case, it’s a large barn full of deadly rats. It takes all their training and the cooperation of every cat in the neighborhood to contain this menace, never mind defeat them. But, as usual, there is a heavy cost for their victory. Not all the neighborhood cats finally join the Clan after the battle, but most of them remain reasonably friendly after that point. Firestar is confident enough in them that he can appoint Clan leaders, and he has the remaining members of the new Clan approve his choices before he leaves them in charge while he and Sandstorm return to ThunderClan.

One of the better in the Warrior series. Good storyline of what Firestar did on his adventure.
