I would opt for larger ones for the calibers you desire to properly clean. **Q: This wont fit a 12 gauge will it? have rifle and shotgun cleaning kit. should i get "all caliber" patches?** A: .223 patches are much smaller than what is needed for a 12 gauge. My recommendation is to buy patches for specific calibers or a family; e.g., .30 cal for 7.62, 300, 308, etc. .45s & .38 (.357 et al). Or you could buy large patches & medium patches in bulk and cut them down as needed. Personally, I do not really like the patches which are available in todays market, which seem to be some type of synthetic. I would like to use all cotton, preferably a flannel.
