Gates 20470 Hose

I installed this onto a 1999 ford explorer sport 4.0 SOHC engine. I believe this is the lower radiator hose. Fits just right, but you may have to shave off half an inch to an inch off of the end that connects to bottom of radiator so that it doesnt rub up against the sway bar. Well built sturdy hose.

This is a "non-collapsable" hose. Instead of the old days with a coil of wire inside to prevent it from collapsing, it is a stiff, "thick-wall" hose. Appears to be working well.

Radiator hose good quality

2000 Ford explorer 4.0ohc 2wd, had to cut it shorter but was alot cheaper than the parts store.

2005 FX4 Ranger 4.0 Need to trim both ends off for a better fit. Just lay the old one on top of the new, center it up and cut it. Its important to cut both ends because of the angles on the hose. For me it was about 2- 3" off the top and one inch off the bottom. The upper clamp is a pain to remove its a lot easier if you take off the drivers side wheel and go in through the wheel well.

Genuine Gates hose for half the price of an auto parts store. I've used Gates for years - after working part time in two different brand auto parts houses, and seeing the difference in quality, it's a no-brainer to pay a dollar or two more for a better quality hose or belt.

While the compatibility guide said it fit a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport (4.0L V6) lower radiator hose, the hose supplied had to be shortened over 4" to fit correctly. At least it was not TOO short. Made it work but disappointed in the fact it was not an exact fit. In fairness, RockAuto has the same hose listed as fitting so it likely a Gates hose issue not the seller.
