Mystery Short Stories for Kids: A Collection of 20 Puzzling, Mysterious Detective and Whodunnit Tales for Children: Time Travel, Spy Adventures, Mysterious Inventions, Space Exploration and more

I got this book with hopes that I could use it for a "Super Sleuths" summer session I was teaching. I tried it out with the kids and quickly discovered that these stories are not suitable for kids. The storylines are bizarre and unsatisfying. Don't buy it!

My expectations from the title was something like Encyclopedia Brown or American Girl Mini Mysteries. That is not what this book is. The writing and editing are on an elementary school level making this book hard to understand. As a volunteer I have read many written works by elementary school children. When reading those you have to make assumptions of meaning, correct grammar, and adjust punctuation to make individual sentences make sense. That was what it was like reading the first story. The plot was also on that level. Creative, but lacking depth. That was how the first chapter of this book was for me. I stopped reading because I was previewing it for a group of children, and decided it wasn’t the right book for them. Wish I had checked reviews first.

I read a few of these short stories to my son's 5th grade class, and they were kind of lame. My son did end up finishing the book though, so its not all bad.

I haven't written a review in a long time but I had to write it for this book. The stories literally make no sense and they just end mid-story. The book is also littered with spelling and grammatical errors. It's almost like someone threw together random sentences. I wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing. I just saw the 4/5 stars and assumed it would be half decent. Literally not worth the paper it's printed on.

It is hard to read with so many typos... :(

Did not feel it was appropriate for my eight and eleven year old kids and poor endings.

I read two of the stories to my grandsons and was disappointed with both. Not very well written in terms of transition and continuity. I really was a bit befuddled; the boys didn’t object to putting the book aside.

Got this as a gift for my 10year old. She really like ituntil it started talking about miscarriages, babies dying at childbirth, sensitive wombs, and running away. This was suppose to be a light funreading -NOT inappropriate Adult content. I'mdisturbed these subjects are in a kids story book!
