Tjernlund RX2 Reversible Radon Ventilation Fan for Mitigation of Basements and Crawl Spaces

I bought 2 of these for my duplex (purchased another 2). I sustained a lot of rain during construction and ended up with mold in my crawl space. I installed 4 of these throughout the duplex as an exhaust to create a negative air pressure in the crawl space and blow out the stale air. They are a bit on the noisy side, if you are in a noiseless, peaceful neighborhood you might not want to purchase these. The fact they are reversible is great although I do not want an intake only exhaust. They are for summer use for me. Winter time i will block them off and I am ducting a heater vent from my furnace to my crawl space (Insulated Concrete Forms) that is ultimately connected to an ERV .These fans along with a vapor barrier are a life saver. In a weeks time you will notice the stale nasty smell diminish in your crawl space. I personally dont recommend using any fan blowing outside air into the crawl space. I am more of a fan of just making negative air pressure in the crawl space but you do have the option of reversing them. They are 120v standard plug ins that need to be connected to an extension cord or you need to wire a receptacle. I wired receptacles however if you wanted to get real fancy you could wire them to a switch in your utility room. I leave them on 24x7 and will have to get down in the crawl space to plug them up for winter anyway so I didnt have a use to wire them to a switch.They are humming along spitting out the stale air as we speak.

My basement radon level was over 5 so I installed this through a block window vent. I set both fans to extract basement air for 12 hrs per day using a standard timer. After 3 days radon levels were below 2. I was going to have a company install the $1100 system but looks like this system will work fine. Fans are a little noisy so that is why it is off at night

I cut my 5"×12" hole over basement window. I then added a12"×12"×1/2" support shelf with 3 1&1/2" screws . Plug fans into surge protector. WORKS great and not to loud.

Awful manufacturer (Tjrenlund) and supplier (Amazon). Fan was incorrectly assembled at the factory with the rivets in backwards such that the individual fans could not be installed into the housing. I figured this out after installing two of them in my home, and it doesn't make sense to remove them after installation because the damages to the home will exceed the cost of the fans. Tom Claesgens with Tjerland promised they would address/correct the problem with some sort of field correction, then backed out and left it up to Amazon (see his email response below). Amazon initially made an unsatisfactory offer/adjustment, then their legal team retracted that.What a huge waste of time and disappointment with both Tjernland, but most especially with Amazon. Easy to instal, everything working but two issues re: noise.- when both fans are running a droning, soft then loud, throbbing sound ( now using only one fan)- the unit is generally much louder than expected ( installed a timer switch to run unit only during the day)
