The Best Concertina Method Yet

Great beginner book, very helpful and easy to read. Lots of songs to learn.

I do not know how to judge which is the "best" method as people learn in ways. I found it useful and helpful used in conjunction with the other two books I bought here. I have no musical background or training and made this part of my DIY program, and it worked. I am now at the beginner/intermediate level of song playing.

This method seemed easy to use, but I had difficulty figuring out how to play the concertina with it.

I ordered this book and while it's a great collection of songs (250 for just $10) it is not a method book. There is a picture of the concertina and 2 pages of exercises and that's it, the rest is sheet music. Buy this for the sheet music but also buy a method/beginners book too.

This book is not for the beginner but for a progression learner easy to follow and clearly printed.

This book has a ton of songs to learn (I think around 250) so its a good bang for your buck - my only complaint is the font on many of the songs are pretty small but I guess that's how they fit so many songs in there.

Of the 2 concertina books I gave my friend for Christmas, she enjoys this one best. She said it has better instructions and is easier to understand.

Mr. Kail doesn't provide a "method" for playing the concertina. For example, when does one play the key of C with their left hand or their right? Some notes are a difficult reach for the ring and pinky fingers. What is the best way to reach these notes? Finger substitutions are used in playing the piano and organ. Similarly, I was hoping for more useful fingering method for the concertina.

I’m 65 years old and never held a concertina in my hand until 3 months ago but was gifted one for my birthday. I ordered this book and in under 3 months I am on saying with ease! If you’re a beginner you really must buy this book!

j'ai débuté depuis "0" en juillet dernier.... et un mois après m'y être mise par moi-même je décidai de compléter mon apprentissage par un livre. Mis à part les bases de solfèges toujours utiles pour comprendre le rythme et la position des doigts, ce livre se contente d'être un répertoire de mini-mélodies , une touche à la fois. vous y trouverez tous les hymnes possibles et imaginables...Mais il est encore plus satisfaisant de reproduire soi-même à l'oreille des mélodies qu'on aime bien que de déchiffrer "j'ai du bon tabac" ou autre hymne de hambourg ou d'ailleurs.... de plus il n'y a que les toutes dernières pages qui abordent des morceaux jouant des harmonies.

I like it BUT.....Did anyone proof read this based on using it to learn the instrument?The answer is definitely No, Nope, Nah!.Don't get me wrong as its probably the best book there is but the fingering tablature is so wrong in a number of tunes that it really puts you off trusting and using the book.It has a lot of tunes which is a plus - not sure if its possible to play a few as they include sharps or flats not actually on the instrument (again, did anyone check) so these would need transposing.A cd of the tunes played from the book would also be great as it would help the learner pick the tunes that they would like to learn.
