Mine are denim & I haven't washed them yet.

It is glued down to the sole of the shoe. I guess if you needed to add your own inserts you could. Very comfortable shoe.

Q: Do they come in narrow width?

Not that I know of, I returned these keds because they were too big they only come in wide width
