I live in a rural area, so mice are a reality, especially when they are looking for a warm shelter from the cold Pennsylvania winter. I don't believe in killing any of God's creatures, but I can't have them chewing up my house, eating my food, or keeping me up at night by scurrying around inside my walls, so humane traps are the way to go. I tried other types of humane traps in the past, but it was too easy for the mice to escape them. These solid plastic tubes don't have that problem. The long, narrow design entices the mice to enter, as if it is one of their own holes. The weight-activated trap door closes securely behind them, trapping them inside, with no possible means of exit. The tubes are long enough that the mouse is safely past the trap door mechanism when it closes, so that they are not injured by it. The bait is securely sealed, so the mice are drawn to it, yet cannot access it. This design seems to be near perfect. I followed the instructions by placing them along walls, near corners, or near possible entry points. Obviously, it helps to put them in areas where you have already seen mice or the remnants of their presence. I did not follow the suggestion of baiting the traps with peanut butter. I have never in my life seen any proof of mice getting into peanut butter, and that would be a mess to clean out each time. I suggest going with whatever food item the mice in your particular house seem to like the most. At my parents' house, it was dry dog food. At my house, it was deer corn. This endeavor was hugely successful. Within the first 2 weeks of using these humane traps, I caught and relocated 12 mice. I didn't even realize there were so many in my house. We had cold temperatures and snow during that time period, so some of them may have been new to my home, replacing those I had evicted. Make sure you release them a few miles away from your home, so they don't come right back in. The only drawback of this product is that the bait chamber is a little hard to remove and reinsert. I have found that the best method is to turn the entire trap upside down, pull down the bait compartment, fill it with deer corn, then press the rest of the trap down onto the bait chamber. Otherwise, the bait would spill out. When releasing mice from the trap, you do so by removing the bait compartment, opening that end of the tube for the mouse to run out (although they are reluctant to come out if it is especially cold out). As I said, the bait chamber is somewhat hard to remove, so this process takes getting used to. Also, the bait will spill out during the release process, but at least that will give the homeless mouse something to eat. All in all, it is a great product, well designed, and sold at a reasonable price. It was been very effective at catching mice within my home. Now, if I could just find a way to keep them from entering my house in the first place...

Product was easy to setup and caught two mice within the first 24hrs putting peanut butter in the bait section of the trap. Very happy after thinking I only had one mouse to deal with.
