They don't really advertise exactly how this strap holder attaches to the coat. Well, turns out it's like a giant safety pin, which, if I had used it, would've poked two big holes in my coat's shoulder. Perhaps for a wool coat, that wouldn't be terrible, but my coat is a down puffer and I would've had feathers coming out. So unfortunately, I won't be able to use it.

On my job, I carry record books of the folks on my caseload, a water bottle, my lunch; sometimes boots or shoes to change into from my boots, my shoulder bag and a travel mug. It gets a little crazy and the last thing I need is my bag falling off my shoulder and making me spill my coffee or drop a record book. This shoulder strap holder is wonderful. I love it! I SO wish I'd searched Amazon for it long before now. It holds discretely and very securely and makes life a bit simpler for me.

I had knee surgery a month ago & had trouble handling a purse & cane,found this & I am ever so happy I did! Being winter here I am wearing a heavy coat & purse kept slipping off. I found this @ Amazon and its been the most helpful gadget I've ever had! I attached it to my coat hooked my purse to it & have eliminated the problem of having purse slip off! Warning though, to attach the strap holder you have to poke it thru your coat kind of like attaching 2 safety pins to your jacket . So either you have two tiny pin pricks in your coat & have your purse secured to your shoulder or you dont secure the shoulder strap holder & your purse keeps falling off your shoulders! Speaking from experience I'd rather have the two pokes in my coat. As a matter of fact I'm considering buying extra one for my light weight jacket! A hint for you who get one, attach the holder as close to your neck as possible. It works better that way!

I was happy to find this again after many years, so I bought a few. It still does exactly what I want it to do: keep my bag from sliding from my shoulder and free up my hands. Yes, the pins must puncture the fabric for them to work, so I do not use them on fur or leather. I use them on coats, primarily, placing them high on the seam and nearer the collar. Useful, practical and inexpensive...a triple play.

I am careful which coat I pin these to because I do not want to make holes in the material. I carry a heavy purse so this could be a problem. I think the strap is a great idea to keep purses on shoulders in the winter when they slip & slide on coat materials.

I have been looking for something like this for awhile. I absolutely hate how my purse always slides off my shoulder, especially when I'm wearing a coat. I had been thinking of some DIY options to solve the problem, but then I decided to try Googling it to see if there was already something out there. I found this, and the price was right, so I ordered it. I "installed" it on my coat, and it works perfectly! I'm excited to go out and not have to worry about my purse falling off again.
