Works better than my EKWB did
Short Version - Block rocks, works better than my EKWB and Backplate I had. I also use Kryonot Thermal paste.Long Version -First we need to clear a few things up. The Strix 3090 runs hot, like really hot. On stock cooler I would see temps of 75c-79c when at 4k @ 120hz graphics on full tilt. If I drop the resolution too 1440p @ 144hz lets say I would see the card hit maybe 65c. That being said cooling a Strix 3090 with 450watts is extremely hard. MY EK block would only drop the temps @ 4k too about 65c with the fans on a high curve. I thought this was still crazy high. After going back and forth with EK custom support, nothing could be done I did pull the system apart and re-mount the block 3 different time and still saw no improvement.Which brings me to this block. I am not sure why or how but @ 4k the card never touches 60c anymore. Plus my fans are not at max speed trying to keep it cool. When at 1440p the card never see's 50c. So understand anyone new to water cooling that this GPU is a massive beast, it is extremely hard to keep cool.

Refurbished instead of New, Missed 2 thermal pads
I have ordered and installed this item multiple times for my RTX 3090s. In the past it went smoothly. But this last time was not good. The box had seals broken so it was clearly open, the internal boxes were also open. The backplate was fine (looked new). The plastic bag containing the waterblock is supposed to be sealed but was already cut open, so the item was either USED or REFURBISHED. I didn't inventory the included parts before starting to mount it. It turned out that two of the thermal pads for the front side was missing (#5 and $6 in the instructions). Also, the item was not shipped in a box as it should have been -- the item's box came with plenty of scratches and other damage. The waterblock itself was indistinguishable from being new however.

Difficult to install, hard to enjoy. But it's pretty.
I've always bought Phanteks. My 2080ti Phanteks water block I used the supplied thermal paste and tape and I admit I had to redo it twice before I got the temps I was okay with which was 62c full tilt I think, with a EvolvX 360 and 240 primo chill moderate thick rads, all one loop but oh my god is this thing difficult to use and hard to love. I see reviews saying good and bad but my experience is less then.I bought extra pads and bought .5, 1 and 2 thick but I cant find the right placement. I used alot of paste, but I've obviously got thicker pads holding the block up some where because I am getting temps of 77c maxed out full tilt in my mid sized PC. High pressure static fans, even one 140 case fan. It's a great build, perfect airflow but I am going to have to suggest beginners look elsewhere. I keep getting errors of RDR2 gfx error game crash which I admit maybe my OC too high from GPU Tweak 3 auto OC but 77c when people are saying 60c and lower is un acceptable. Amazon needs to make it so we can comment others comments or reach out to them so I can ask for help. It does not come with adequate instructions and the screws for the back plate which essentially mount the entire thing together strip very, very easy..... They do not supply extra and the 3090, 3080 and 3080ti Strix is just a massive, massive beast of a card drawing 450w power and is extremely hard to cool... You will see massive gaps when using the entire supplied .5 thermal pads and it is laughable.I have to tear my build down and remount this card and that is not an easy thing to do.. Not always... Please do your research.. Some people are saying temps which I just cant believe but I guess... 77c from geforce now in game.... One other note.. When doing thermal checks make sure to use a game..EditAfter 6 months of use... I am very pleased and impressed with both the looks, price and cooling capability.. My PC is Evolv X and it suffers from design flaw.. With the front panel off its cooled 10c more easily... But the block does its job well.. I just need bigger radiators.. Better case... I'm working on it... But this card actually does cool very nicely.. The only hard part is getting the right thickness of thermal paste... Few attempts and it does suck having to drain and refill, take apart.. reapply.. but that's custom water cooling pc loops for ya.... I'd recommend this card.. It's the most beautiful one on the market. and it does cool rather brilliantly..

Great quality and price
Installation on my 3090 Strix was effortless. In addition I used Liquid Metal on the core and temps don't exceed 45C. The backplate gets very hot from the memory and I added a spare water cooling block on top of the backplate to cool it down. Looks ugly but for me looks don't matter.

If you want your $2300 GPU to run a HOTTER than stock cooling, then THIS is the waterblock for you!
The 3090 is truly a monster of a card! I have seen several water cooling reviews on youtube from various people, and all of them, without exception, report significantly improved temps by watercooling the Strix 3090. It comes with pretty monstrous air cooling out of the box, but liquid is always better, right??Well, no. From what I've seen, the other reviewers are using the EK block on this card. Despite meticulous installation of the thermal pads, and ordering the more expensive kit that includes the backplate, my temps are significantly worse. The core is running 6c hotter, and the VRAMs are running a whopping 14c hotter. You may ask, "Well, if you're sharing your liquid loop with the CPU, it's probably getting some heat from the CPU!" That's a fair question, but for this installation, I wanted the full cooling prowess of the VERY thick Bitspower 360mm radiator to ONLY have to worry about cooling the 3090. That's right. The Bitspower Leviathan XF360 Triple 360mm is hooked up to the excellent Lian Li/Bitspower distro plate with built in pump and reservoir, and this sucker can move some liquid! Flow and leak testing revealed no leaks, and excellent throughput of cooling liquid. So what's the issue? The waterblock. It is simply ineffective. It does not move sufficient heat from the actual card. It doesn't even get very hot! The backplate is extremely cheap-feeling and flimsy. It is thinner and softer than the stock backplate.I ordered the Phanteks waterblock without finding any reviews on it, and I absolutely regret it. I do not recommend this product, and Phanteks needs to go back to the drawing board and fix the design of this waterblock so that it will actually remove heat from the card effectively. I intend to return this and purchase the competing waterblock from EK.Pros:Beautiful - it is a very attractively designed waterblock, and it comes well-packagedPre-cut thermal pads - this made installation much easier than having to cut the pads myselfCons:Expensive (like most waterblocks for AIB GPUs)Inexcusably terrible cooling performanceSuper cheap and flimsy backplateNo amount of attractive looks or conveniently cut thermal pads can make up for having such terrible performance vs. the stock air cooler.
