Perfect size for me.
The axe itself lives up to its price point, I do wish it was stamped instead of having that giant sticker on it. I took the time to sand the handle and rubbed it with boiled linseed oil, feels nice in the hand now. The grain is pretty straight but I may have just lucked out on that. You will spend a considerable amount of time sharpening this axe, but hey, what do expect at this price? I would buy again.

So for the occasional use is perfect, inexpensive
I bought this as an improvement to my 1-1/4 lbs. hardware axe. Looking for a slightly heavier and larger axe, but backpack friendly. I used mostly for camping. I am not an everyday axe user, so I do not expect a heavy use for this one. So for the occasional use is perfect, inexpensive, and very useful. The additional weight and size (1/2 lbs and 3 " more) make it very useful. I can use it with both hand when needed, and it is still light enough to be used as a hatchet. Need to be sharpened, after that cut s very well. Very pleased with the product

It’s okay, but the days of a good Collins axe are over.
-1 for the stickers would rather have a forge stamp like back in the old days. -1 for the grain orientation being mediocre at best. Axe was dull. I expected that but there was no bevel at all let alone a secondary. I fixed all that with a proper mill bastard file. After it was ready to take out it did a decent job of limbing and very light splitting. The edge held for a while, but eventually flattened out in a couple of places. I wish I knew how far back the bit was tempered. If I have to file it after each use it won’t take long to reach the softer steel...I guess I could temper it myself if I had to.

Decent if you don’t mind working on it
After reprofiling the edge since it was wavy, and a good sharpening the head has been alright. I sanded off the varnish on the haft, took it up to 180 grit and hit it with some boiled linseed oil now the haft is more comfortable. All in all a decent tool for the money if you don’t mind putting in some work.

Great for NATF Leagues
I throw axes and this is great for that. It's the heaviest you can have within NATF regulations. I cut the handle down and haven't had any problems! It is pretty heavy so probably best for hard throwers. Not sure how it hunts, chops wood or anything else of its original purpose.

Great big-little axe !!
Perfect for my indoor fireplace when splitting 12-16” logs even when driving the axe blade thru the wood with a 4-5 lb sledge hammer. So far... after splitting some 30 -40 pieces of cord wood, still solid !!!

Exactly what I was looking for and great service
This is exactly what I was looking for; something larger than a hatchet but smaller than a full-size axe, perfect for camping or carrying through the woods. Seller got this to me sooner than I expected. Very impressed with both the product and the service.

Throwing axe?
I bought this for throwing competition and I like it, it throws well but I prefer the Collins camp axe in 1 1/4 pound for throwing as that's ideal for my throwing style. I now use this at work for general purposes.
