An honest review.
Ok, I bought the Key Smart Rugged and the Pro for my work and home keys respectively. I will be reviewing the Pro.I love that it’s made in America. So few things are these days. It’s really refreshing. Definitely a plus! And it’s a great concept. However, when I travel, I will be probably be opened up to a 2nd look when this goes through an airport scanner. The Pro comes with a bottle opener attachment, USB charging cable and manual. It has an LED flashlight built in as well as a Tile. It’s also ST:TNG themed. I’m a Trekkie, so that’s real cool. Here’s where the negatives hit: The cost of the Rugged and Pro were very high considering what you get with each. The Pro just comes with long screws and a lot of spacers. The Rugged came with 2 long screws, a belt clip and a dedicated key ring clip besides the bottle opener. Why the Pro didn’t come with these as well, I can’t rightfully explain. Key Smart: take this hint: package a lot more spacers in your products.Reviews mentioned that all your keys should fit *IF* you have small keys. Well, the Pro was meant for my house keys. Key smart suggests (at least from the reviews I’ve seen) that you duplicate your keys in favor of the smaller size so you can fit all your keys neatly (and that’s what I want - no keys sticking out so they can scratch anything in my pocket). Unfortunately I have a special Italian lock which uses a long, oddly shaped key which is made in special locksmiths. Out of 4 keys, only 1 is small. I’m NOT re-cutting all my keys to fit this thing. And adding to that, I also wanted a USB 3.0 drive on it. If you want to fit all your keys without them sticking out, then you need to space them.In order to make the keys (and USB 3.0 drive) fit, I had to order an expansion kit ($6 for 8 rubber washers and expansion screws). $6???? You gotta be kidding me. The contents of the initial Pro should have been chock full of washers. It’s not like they cost really anything. They’re rubber (<1mm thick. Maybe 1/4 inch in diameter). BIG negative shout out here. They nickel and dime you for the USB adapter ring for the Kingston drive as well.I had to order another expansion and a key ring attachment because I used all the spacers on my Rugged to fit my work keys. This is becoming a real expensive key holder.I love the concept, but the whole product line needs to be standardized. Why does the Pro not come with at least the same stuff a Rugged comes with? Isn’t the Pro supposed to be a better model? I have to order the expansion set as well as the key ring attachment for $6 each? Highway Robbery!!!! Put like 30 spacers in. It won’t cut into your profit margin. Make a version for bigger keys as well. I’d love to have seen an extended Pro so NORMAL sized keys will fit.If you’re going to charge so much for the Pro, at least have a replaceable battery option as well. I’m walking away feeling I made a mistake buying all this stuff for so little product.

A little disappointed
I bought this particular model because I loved the Star Trek tie-in. It didn't take more than a few months for the design to start chipping off. I'm not particularly rough with my keys; they live in my purse and I work an office job. I can't imagine how fast it would have worn off under different circumstances.Secondly, the product has a few flaws. The battery life is WAY too short. You would be better off with a standard tile. I don't use the flashlight, except to see if the battery is dead. The swift ending battery is a deal-breaker for me - if I was the kind of person to remember to plug it in, I wouldn't need the tile function in the first place! Also it will not hold as many keys at the listing says - it said fourteen but the package said ten.

Don’t always believe the title read more into it
It says on the amazon site it holds up to 14 keys the box clearly says 10 keys however I do like the fact that it has tile and does what it says it can do just would like it to be 100 % truthful than 50% I just have more than 10 keys I have 12 so I’ll have to make due

Stick to a carabiner and your cell phone flashlight.
I purchased this because of the coloring, NOT because of the Star Trek connection. I figured the colors would stand out when looking for it. But for the price I don’t think it’s worth it.If you have a hard time keeping track of your keys and want to make something beep a lot then sure maybe it would be worth 25$ but outside of that when you consider the hassle of assembling the keys and keeping track of the spacer washers that came with it, again not worth it in hassle or for the dollar, 50$ of them.By design I can see the need for the spacers but I only use two keys so it’s sort of lost on me. The light really isn’t that bright and again, a cell phone flashlight mode is so common these days it’s sort of a waste. More importantly the keys coming in and out is a bit of a pain. You have to keep the unit balanced enough so it’s not too tight or loose and again with two keys, kind of a pain.Overall I thought it might be fun and I’ll continue to use it until it breaks or something but not worth the price they charge.

Make it so KeySmart
Easy to attach keys (comes with 12 spacers) and the bottle opener and flashlight are nice. Was completely dead when I got it so I put it on the charger and opened the tile app. Took less than 10 seconds to pair it with my phone. You hit three buttons in the app and press the tile button on the key smart and that’s it!!!The ring can be changed in the app and the volume is on high so I can at least hear it from the next room.Recharging is very convenient and it’s about the size of a pocket knife. Plastic doesn’t feel to cheap but will update on durability and battery life.
