can be used on inkjet?

Hi. Yes these labels can be used with newer inkjet printers preferably 2008 and up.

Are these the "weatherproof" labels or would you say they're at all resistant to smudging if they get slightly damp?

Definitely not water proof or water resistant. Label texture becomes fuzzy and will lift (i.e. becomes wavy) away from object. Did not smudge laser printed ink; however, if rubbed hard enough, the dampened label does tear.

I ship from home using a 4x8 bubble mailer. if i go on usps.com can i print the shipping label barcode etc. using these labels?

Should not be an issue I use Avery labels for my product bar codes and mailings and the Avery free software is really good and you can also print from PDF files on them...

Does anyone know how to remove the label from a metal surface? I tried soap and water and windex, but they don't work.

In a hidden area, try some "Goo Gone" and make sure that it does not stain the metal. If that goes well, the Goo Gone will soften up the remaining label and help you remove the adhesive--without the use of a scraper. A fingernail would help. Or maybe the edge of a credit card. You can get Goo Gone here on Amazon, but it's available at many retail stores as well. Goo Gone can leave a bit of a residue, but then Windex with a paper towel will take care of it.

I've learned the hard way that name brand is the way to go! But beware with these, once it's on (even the back of a picture) it's on! There isn't any peeking it off to restick. They don't crinkle even when I peeled them off of the sheet in a haphazard way. The template on avery.com was easy to use.
