Hario V60 "Mugen" Plastic Coffee Dripper, Size 02, Clear Black

Easy to use, regular filters fit it perfectly, makes great coffee

I've been using this every morning for the past 15 months. I use it alongside my regular v60 to make 2 cups. I prefer this version over the old design - the coffee drips a little slower, I can taste the extra extraction. I also prefer the design of the base, it fits better over larger mugs. No cracks or other issues from long term use. Between all my coffee brewers -- V60, V60 Mugen, Hario Switch, Kalita Wave, Chemex, AeroPress, Phin -- This V60 Mugen is my favorite.

I'm really enjoying having this option for my pour over coffee. I've been using the standard Hario V60 for many years now, and it's great for making my normal 20 oz daily cups. However, sometimes if I'm having coffee later in the day...or if I only have time enough for one cup...then this new Hario option is awesome, and the stronger brew it makes tastes great. Following the instructions, you will make an 8 oz cup that is stronger than the standard 16:1 water-to-coffee ratio. By my calculations, I'm ending up with around 9:1 water-to-coffee ratio. I know I could adjust to get a different result, but I kinda like the stronger result...especially if I'm only going to have 1 cup. I got the plastic version, and it snaps apart for cleaning.

I love using the Hario V60 Magen. This is my second one. Be careful though when handling. I broke my first one and purchased this second one to replace it. Worth the price.

This is a very easy to use dripper that is made for one recipe and one recipe only really, just put 25g of grounds in and pour 240ml of water in and let ‘er rip. It’s mindless. The thing is, unless you get the grind dialed in just right, the extraction is not very pronounced. It’s a really light cup, easy to underextract if you are using a grind that doesn’t stall the filter. I usually use the Mugen for an afternoon coffee where I don’t want it to be too strong. It’s an interesting thing to have in the collection, and I might try the Tales Coffee single pour recipe with it some time. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

I've owned my standard V60 for probably close to a year and decided to give this version a shot. Although it's much slower, it is also less finicky than the standard V60. It gives a much much stronger cup without tasting overextracted like I sometimes get when I mess up brewing on my V60. I'm a huge fan of this brewer and it might replace the standard V60 for me going forward. Do yourself a favor and get the CAFEC ABACA or T-90 filters, they are especially important in a brewer like this that doesn't have as many ridges to allow drainage.

I love Hario and this one is good. I used Switch V60 but sometime I used this because of time.
