El Barrio Remembered

As an adult, I enjoyed these stories and can imagine that young people will not only enjoy them but also learn from them. Great teaching tool for middle and high school teachers, counselors, and mentors.

Liked remembering where I grew up Didn't like that the book only had 97 pages. Would have loved if it had 500. Very entertaining

I so enjoyed reading my beloved Mr. López' book to the point of surprising myself with audible laughter! I can just picture him as a pre-teen experiencing moments I totally relate to myself. You may wonder why I wrote “my beloved.” You see, my good friend gifted me this book just days ago. She knows me well. But she had no way of knowing that Mr. López was my seventh grade home room, social studies and choral music teacher some forty-five years ago! I can attest to the veracity that “Mr. López pushed his student to be great.” He has been a mentor to me, inspiring me to rise out of poverty by virtue of a higher education. I have passionately and compassionately practiced the art of teaching for the past twenty-five years because of Mr. López’ modeling how to “teach students and not their circumstances.” I hope you enjoy his stories as much as I have.
