Used on 2002 Lincoln Continental. Read on to understand the mystery “O” ring!
So as other here, I bought this to correct a leaky oil pan gasket on a Ford 4.6 DOHC engine installed in a Lincoln Continental. The gasket was as close to OEM as it gets (I actually think these are repackaged OEM gaskets to begin with.) Installed easily and with no issues. Have some oil resistant RTV for the corners of the rear cover and front cover. Just a little bead will do. Now here’s the informative part! This gasket comes with a small O ring in a plastic bag within the package. The box calls it out as “oil filter adapter” gasket. Not true. The oil filter adapter has three O rings. Not one. What is it for you ask? THE OIL PICKUP TUBE! I wish I had know this when I had the pan off. Oil pickup tube screen was spotless, so I had no reason to remove it. If I had, I would have discovered the O ring on the flange end of the pickup that bolts to the oil pump and swapped out the seal. It would have been nice to replace this 22 year old O ring, but I guess I can always go back and do it at a later time if it doesn’t cause an issue. I hope this helps someone else when performing this job. I just wish I knew about it before I did!

I've been using Felpro seals and gaskets all of my life and have never been disappointed.
This oil pan gasket fit perfect and installation was simple. However, before you take on this job, just realize that the crossmember must come out and if you have a 4x4, the front axle also needs to be dropped a few inches. I bought this for my 5.4L 2v. I actually had to remove the motor to remove what was left of the dipstick tube. Maybe I could have done it in frame, but I had the heads off already and I thought I could do a better job out of the truck. I always buy Fel-Pro when i have the chance with this truck. It started with the intake manifold gasket, after doing research, they make the best ones. So naturally I trusted them to my other gasket needs... works great, no leaks. I didn't even add the additional 60 deg. of the bolts after torque, I figured it gave me a little room if it started to leak.

1st one leaked, 2nd one works
1st install this gasket leaked a lot after.. Retorquing bolts helped but not much.. 2nd one doesn't leak.. sucked having to change it out and do the job twice!
