Go for the Gold!
I purchased these due to my imminent addition to the staff of a tactical training school. I will be publishing my initial impressions and then returning after this coming weekend to update based on observations in the field.Pros:- easy to set up and use. Instructions are adequate.- CR123 batteries are common-enough, however I purchased rechargeable Tenergy 900MaH batteries as I have had good results with those in my tac lights.- Individual power for each ear - so if you just need to have pass-through on one-side to hear range commands, you can.- VERY comfortable - we'll see how I feel after a full day of use.- NRR of 33 is excellent - I need to wear these with my shooting glasses to determine how well that remains - however I feel that the comfortable seals will be effective.- Ability to route in radio comms or MP3 player - nice :)Cons:- First and foremost - price - WOW! quite a hit for a pretty basic electronics package and solid earmuff. ($250 for me)- LARGE - the high NRR necessitates a large earmuff. I am not a rifle shooter, however it appears as though they would make shooting a rifle challenging given the size of the ear cups.Overall I am pleased with the purchase. Again, I will update following this weekend's class and let you know how they performed their function. In case you are wondering, I typically use these (truly the finest hearing protection around - yet make it hard to hear range commands): http://www.amazon.com/Worlds-Finest-Plug-12-pair-Personal/dp/B003GVTDQW/ref=cm_cr-mr-titleHope that helps....UPDATE - 2 April 2013I used the Pro Ears exclusively during an all-day tactical course for shotgun/pistol. Here are my impressions on function:- Comfort - great! Very comfortable for all-day wear.- Noise cancellation - Excellent! The 33 NRR is right on.- Fit - Excellent - the soft ear cups fit right over the temples of my shooting glasses with no problems and no loss in NRR.- Electronics - excellent! Voices came right through and the very fast electronic response to impulse noises kept my hearing protected.Overall I am very pleased with these.

Huge. Clunky.
I bought the “Popular Honeywell” active hearing protection. They were AWEFUL! So, for my second attempt I bought these. They're ok but VERY, VERY large. Not great for rifle use but ok otherwise. Doing it wrong twice made me pay close attention at the range to what my friends all use and they ALL have Walker hearing protection. So, for the THIRD attempt at this I bought a pair of Walker XCel BTs and they are PERFECT!

Great Customer Service!
I purchased two sets of these ears almost a full year ago, in March of 2011. I'm happy with them, for all the reasons others have listed.I store them on a pegboard hook in my very cold garage in the Utah mountains. The other day, while removing them from their hook, I snapped the central headband completely into two pieces.I just emailed the customer service department of Altus Brands, the people who make the headsets. Within less than ten minutes, I got a reply explaining that they had a bad batch of plastic during the time of my purchase, that they apologize for the inconvenience, and that they are in the process of sending me two headpieces.Doesn't seem like much, perhaps, but their quick resolution of the problem is my idea of what customer service ought to be! Nicely Done!

Terrific Hearing Protection and Easy to Wear
I like to shoot sporting clays, an outdoor shotgun shooting activity. Hearing protection is important to me and I wanted to make the move to electronic ear muffs so that I could hear well when no one was shooting. I first bought a relatively cheap set of electronic ear muffs from Beretta because of the price ($109). They were adequate, not great, and after a few visits to the range, the headband snapped in two places. You get what you pay for--obviously.So, after much research, I bought the Pro Ears Mag Gold. I am very happy with them. They have excellent hearing protection. After shooting with the previous pair, my ears felt a bit abused. Not so with the the Pro Ears. The hearing protection is very good and the electonic sound is excellent. I can hear very clearly in the mid-range of the sound control. They are comfortable to wear, and I have a fairly large head (about a 7 3/4 hat size--maybe a smart guy?). Even though the muffs are thick, which comes with strong hearing protection, I have never had any problem mounting the shotgun to my shoulder. Maybe I have a long neck, but my biggest concern did not come true, they are easy to wear and cause no problem. I have gone shooting several times with them, probably several hundred shells fired, and I am very happy with their performance. The weather has been warm, so my ears have gotten a bit hot and sweaty, but that is a small (and expected) price to pay. So far, the Pro Ears have been great.

Pro ears noise cancellation
I was very disappointed with this product it does not work the way it’s suppose to. You are suppose to leave them turned on and it’s suppose to cancel out the noise when you have someone shooting. It does not work the way it’s suppose to very disappointing.

Not As Advertised
This unit is being sent back to the manufacturer today because it does not function as it is advertised on their website. The manufacturer's video shows a RSO speaking over the sound of gun fire at an in door range and you are led to believe that that is how the unit functions. Well mine does not work that way. It clips exactly like all my other electronic ear protection but I must admit that it recovers very quickly.I was also surprised at the size of this unit. It is huge. I own a variety of hearing protection units both passive and electronic and this unit dwarfs them. Think of a LSO's head gear on an aircraft carrier.I gave this unit/manufacturer a single star because when I called the CS rep, she immediately started the return process without any quibble.I received a RA number from the CS lady however, the shipping cost is all mine.I'm trusting that my unit is an anomaly and that once repaired/replaced it will function as advertised. This is a very expensive unit for the average shooter and most people can not afford lay out that kind of money and not have it work the way it is intended/supposed without the additional cost/time of sending it back to the manufacturer for repair.

Perfect
Absolutely perfect for my needs. I work at a shooting range 3 months/year, I can hear conversations without the rifles blast. I was a bit nervous with comments about the head band braking, but they have been solid.

Product works great!!
Love these Ear Muffs!!! Wish they were more streamlined to allow for a better cheek weld, but i understand they require the size to get the 33NRR rating!!! I would definitely recommend them!!
