Is it "noisy" when the pulley is moving? Those beads look like they would make a racket moving through the gears.

The unit is very quiet when in operation.the chain only makes a sound when you use it to pull the bag back up. Otherwise it's virtually silent.

I believe they have two production sites, one in UK and one in Africa. The one purchased was likely UK for North America market. The actual light is now in service in a remote area of Burundi and is receiving rave reviews.

Can I turn off the main light and use only one satellite lamp?

I put a 15lb dumbbell in the bag and got a nice steady light when it was running: 1, 2 or 3 of the lights - no flicker that I noticed. I plan on getting a second unit I like it so much.
