Do not need both
I bought the pattern for the Alaska Quilt and it recommended this ruler as well as a template set. Both are not needed. The templates were less expensive and I feel will be easier to work with so I will be returning this.

The ruler is great
I just thought the directions could have been better, It does not mean that I am right. It is my brain has a hard time grasping how to use the tool. I did find on youtube there were a few videos if that helps.

I bought this ruler to go with the Alaska pattern by Laundry Basket quilts. The ruler seems like it will help immensely with cutting and construction. I have quite a few Creative Grids rulers and they are all very well made, have non-slip built in, and are well marked to measure accurately.
