Inspiring, and well thought out
I love this book, and I believe I'm going to be able to make my own lotion, because I did not have one single question about the processes. She is very detailed and systematic.Honestly, this is the best recipe and instruction book I've ever read anywhere, hands down, because I didn't have questions, I didn't see holes about things that she left out (the way I do with 100% of the breadmaking books I've read!). I never scratched my head and wondered what she meant by something she'd written. In other words, I think this book has everything I need to know.Well, I've still got a question about whether or not I can use my stick blender and other equipment on food after making lotion, if I carefully clean it (I've been reading up on soap making and learned that you cannot use that equipment for anything but soap after that first batch is attempted...I wonder whether the same is true for lotion), and I plan to ask, but I am thinking that I probably can, since she didn't say I couldn't. Still, the soap making instructions I've been reading on the web recently have sort of spooked me, so I will definitely ask before attempting.Anne L. Watson, you are amazing! Thanks for being so systematic and thorough!

The best book on soap making!
This book is awesome! So much great information on how to make soap, explained so clearly. It cuts through all the soap “myths” and doesn’t confuse you, like so many other books do.

Short and easy to follow
I'm just getting into making my own candles and skin care products and saw this book was recommended. It's short and super easy to understand. Great for a beginner who is also looking for recipes.

Good book to have.
I've been making soap and skincare products for years. I like both of her books. They're easy to read and very practical. This book offers good basic information that makes the lotion making process seem easier. Recipes are simple. I haven't used the recipes in this book yet I will admit because I have so many skincare product books but I do plan to. I got the ebook version free since I previously bought the paperback one. That was great! I think anyone who is thinking of trying lotion making or who does already would enjoy having this book in their collection.

Make Your Own Fantastic Lotion!
This is a fantastic book on making your own lotion from The Smart Soapmaking Lady. We discovered her Smart Soapmaking and Smart Milk Soapmaking books several years ago. We love making our own soap and all of our family and friends are impressed and delighted when we give them our soap. Smart Lotionmaking is every bit as good. I would say that sometimes her directions and layout are a bit confusing, but it is worth putting in the effort to figure it out because the content is pure gold. You can customize your lotion and make lotion--heavier, lighter, customized oil, scented or unscented. I find it to be relaxing to go into my kitchen to play mad scientist lotionista.

VERY REPEITIVE!
The instructions on making lotions are simple and easy to follow. However, the author repeats and repeats the steps and ingredients to the point of being ridiculous. She needs to give her readers credit for having some intelligence and ability to follow directions. This is not rocket science! Sorry, but this book was a bore!

Loved this book
Loved this book. Great for the total beginner or for somebody who has made lotion before (like me). I had been making lotion following a recipe I've had for a while and it made a good lotion, but just not a great one in my mind. Not only did this book have plenty of different recipes to try, but more valuable was section of tips and fixes for most lotion complaints. For example, what to change if a lotion is too greasy, or not moisturizing enough, or doesn't sink into skin enough, or if it just doesn't feel smooth on. With the help of this book I figured out how to tweak my mediocre lotion into my ideal, can't - live - without moisturizer... or at least for now because as I'm trying some other recipes in the book I'm falling in love with new formulations. This book has been a great resource
