Works
My dog was digging holes in my flower bed and eating mulch I put this 2 rows wide around the perimeter and he has not been back n the flower bed. Sturdy too.

my kitties like to poop on it!!
I was hoping this would deter kittens from doing their business on carpet and use the litter box. Unfortunately, they just pooped on the spiked mat!

Great
Well, it's currently not the time for me to plant anything, but I'm so far very happy to have this mat. Animals like to come to my backyard at night (mostly stray cats), and I've had problems with them thinking the soil for my vegetables are their litter box. This mat seems well-made, and seems to have some features that I haven't seen in some of the other mats I've gotten. They do come with 8 larger metal spikes you can probably use to push the four sides down. But, if you look closely, there are also little removable plastic spikes embedded throughout the mat, alongside of little holes made just for those little spikes to push through. These little spikes are a little on the small side, but it could work just to help hold this mat together even more securely.Overall, I like it, and look forward to not finding cat litter in my soil!

Using to keep my dogs out of certain areas
Even though these are advertised as for use with cats, I ordered these for my dogs. I have four rescued dogs and I often foster dogs. I live in a townhouse next to someone who also has 3-4 dogs. Whenever her dogs are out in her backyard, my dogs and hers will run along the fence barking at each other. Their barking is insanely excessive (like if you heard it, you would think there was some kind of dog fighting ring going on at my house!). It’s horrible and drives me crazy! I have put this out to try to make it where they can’t get right next to the fence and hopefully deter them from doing this. I also want to keep them from running along the fence and breaking my plants. So far, this has worked very well. I’ve included photos - wish I had taken them as soon as I put it down because now it has leaves and stuff on it, but you can still see what it looks like.It comes rolled up in one long piece but is easy to cut in whatever length you need. It does tend to curl up at first (since it has been stored rolled up) but you can put it upside down for a while and this will help make it lay flatter. I used several shorter pieces. I would have liked to have had a few more of the stakes for that reason but I made it work with what I had. You also get a generous amount of the mat part but I probably need to go back and order a second set because if you need it for a large area (like I need), it tends to go quickly. Overall, I’m pleased with it. My dogs still bark, but not nearly as much since they aren’t able to get right up next to the fence and bark and scratch trying to get through.

I was so impressed whenI opened the package-this is heavy duty wire-love that
I need this scat mat but for squirrels, those pesky devils. I want to have tulips in my yard but for squirrels they are like chocolate cake. So this year I put red pepper in the hole and on top the ground to deter those determined thorn in my side squirrels. I walk out on day and a little devil had one of my bulbs in his mouth! So I need help for my spring flowers. This scat mat is heavy duty, so lie. I was delighted when I opened the package at the thought of the disappointed bulb eating devils. LOL The stakes are prefect to hold the scat mat down. You will need heavy duty wire cutters. Highly recommend

May get the job done
I bought this because my cat likes to get into a specific spot that she is not allowed to go to. I thought the scat mat would be perfect for preventing the cat from going to the spot. The mat itself is good. It comes with a good length and the spikes itself are hard but not sharp. I don't believe it's hard enough to hurt whatever steps onto it but it can certainly cause some discomfort. It can also be adjust for length as you need necessary and the staple like things it comes with are great for adding sturdiness when placed on the ground.I regret to say that the mat did not work for me for my intended purpose as it seems the cat still goes on the mat. Not sure if it just steps strategically around it or if it just doesn't hurt it. This however has no bearing on the product itself since I believe it will work for its intended purpose and I may just have an oddball pet. Definitely perfect for outside gardens.

Nice for outdoors
We have some feral cats that we take care of. But, with having cats around I have to protect my potted plants when I have them outdoors.I've tried numerous ways to deter them but they seem to find ways around what I try.So now I'm trying this scat mat. It's a heavier plastic that has small pointy spikes on it.Right now I made a cover over the top of the dirt where they can't step into the dirt at all.I know at least one has tried because I can see the small indent. It's been 4 days and so far it's still in place and doing what it's suppose to be doing. If by chance they find ways past this defense then I'll probably use this to make a round fence around the plant. Will just have to wait and see.Was easy to use. Easy enough to cut to the proper size I needed. Working good so far.

Fun for neighbors kittens
Just cleared out the area near the sidewalk. I've been fighting the neighborhood cat poop for years. Finally broke down and ordered this. Unfortunately. It's not going to work for what I need. The neighbors kitten came over while I was laying it out. The first thing he did was just run up and down it. Then he proceeded to dig holes under it. His buddy came over too and they had a great time playing on it and chewing it. One kitten even attempted to go potty on it but there was soft dirt next to it so that's where he went.I'm sure if I layed this down over the whole area, it might slow them down. I would need 15-20 rolls to do this area. That's a bit pricey. It's probably great if you have potted plants you need to keep animals out of, especially squirrels. That's what I am going to do with this now.
