Finally used the leather punch I purchased to punch holes in my belts since I've lost a few pounds. The leather punch seems to be of high quality and seems to work just fine. Comes with extra parts and should last a for some times.

I needed a hole punch because I lost some weight and simply needed a couple new holes in a couple of leather belts. As I looked around on Amazon for a tool to do this tedious, uninspiring job, I learned that the world of leather hole punches is dizzyingly wide. From the reviews, it seems easy to go catastrophically wrong and buy something that not only lacks durability but isn't sharp in the first place. Well, friends, I am happy to give the leather hole punch you're looking at right now a five star rating. This thing was reasonably priced, durable, and does a fantastic job punching clean holes in thick leather. These belts of mine are 1.5" wide and I had no problem centering the hole – easy breezy. Yes, it's nothing more than a tool for punching holes in leather, but I'm just a guy who needed a boring, reliable tool to punch the occasional hole in leather and that's what I got with this. Now, the tools in my miscellaneous, "occasional use" tool drawer have a welcome new "forever" friend, my friends can ask to borrow it when they need a hole punched in leather and are daunted by Amazon's selection, and I think we're all the happier for it.

Overall I like this hole punch BUT beware there is not a lot of throat room if attempting to to put holes in anything thick. I needed to put a hole in leather horse halter that was two pieces of leather thick. I was barely able to get this punch onto the leather and had to force it. Once on, it easily punched the needed hole. So, if you are doing thin leather this works well. But if the leather is thick or two pieces of leather on top of one another then I would look for another punch with a larger throat.

I am always losing and gaining weight and my belts can always use another hole to accomodate whatever state I am in. You can bring the belts to a tailor or leather shop and they are usually willing to accomodate, but being able to make the adjustment yourself is better. This punch is very easy to use and is solidly built and includes all the gear you will need to easily add nicely formed holes to your leather goods. This will also punch holes in most fabrics and nearly anything else that requires having additional holes added. Decide where you want the hole and use the included leather punch to mark it. Choose the size of the hole (I use 3.5 but you can rotate the wheel on the tool to the size you prefer) and spin the wheel on the tool so that the hole size you like is aligned with the bottom jaw of this pliers like tool. PLace the leather into the jaws and squeeze. It will pop out a perfect circle of leather. The leather chad may get stuck in the punch--just poke it out with the included awl. Replacement parts and tools are included but unlikely to ever be needed unless you are a professional leather worker.

Well-made tool that uses an "anvil" to stop the hole puncher. You may need to put a small piece of scrap leather between the anvil and the item that you are trying to add a nice round hole. I don't know for sure but I would think that if there was no anvil and the puncher could go completely through your belt or other object that it would work better. Unfortunately, the metal that you would need to drill through to attempt this modification is extremely hard and I haven't figured out how to make a hole in it as even brand new small drill bits just slide across the very strong metal. When I use it to add a belt loop hole with the anvil as designed or if I add a small piece of scrap leather between the belt and the anvil, I find that it usually takes me 3 punches to add a nice round hole. I also turn the belt over after each punch. Overall, it's very well made and if I can't find a way to drill through the metal so that I can have the puncher go completely through the belt or other object, I will still use it as originally designed or add a small piece of leather between the anvil and the item that you want to add a smooth round hole without too much effort. Follow up note: Even using brand new drill bits made for hard metals and using a 120V drill starting with a small drill bit and increasing the bit size gradually, I was unable to "add" a hole as the Pro-Master is made so well that I would need an expensive drill press to penetrate the metal in the area where the anvil typically goes. I don't mind as I needed the bits for a separate project and it reinforces just how well made the Pro-Master is. Since I don't need a hole puncher often, I expect that the Pro-Master will outlast me. Lol. As long as you are willing to make as many as 3 punches in order to get a clean round hole (depending on the material), I highly recommend the Pro-Master even for people with Rheumatoid arthritis in their hands. I would have liked to try my method which would not require an anvil but overall, I'd rather have a well made puncher that requires a few punches to complete making the hole than one that is poorly made with cheap materials. It's obvious to me that the Pro-Master is made to last and the ergonomic handles enable you to use it for many years.

Definitely works. I use this tool for my father's belts. As he gets older he has dropped down in size and needs a smaller belts and his belts are still in great shape so we make extra holes so he can continue to use his favorite belts.

Used it immediately on ALL my belts due to losing some pounds, lol- Wish I had this product years ago for work also. Definitely worth the price instead of going to a leather guy just for a few holes. Quality item and will do many jobs for many years! Feels great when holding, all holes were perfect, and it’s a strong item. Very easy to use and comes with instructions. Very pleased how quickly it arrived. Ordered Jan 2 and arrived on the 5th. Unfortunately was missing the bonus pack that was supposed to be included so I left a message to the seller,after calling Amazon, and was answered quickly. They apologized and said that it was not available for the Canadian market and was a technical error, that the bonus picture was there when it was not supposed to be. They told me to ask Amazon for a refund, which I will do. So far I am very happy with how it works. Easy to use and makes well formed holes even in the thickest leather approx. 1/4 inch thick with a few pushes! Important Tip: I use a piece of leather under the one I want to punch to get perfect holes every time and protect the plate and punch, in the same time. Need to do this for thin leather, paper and cardboard. I was pleasantly surprized how efficient Amazon's response was after clicking the Call Me button, as my phone rang immediately and the server was respectful and pleasant. She agreed to give me a credit for the parts that were missing.
