Q: Does this work with a silicone case on it?

Yes (as demonstrated in the terribly shot video above). I have a fairly thick silicone case on it that it charges through with no problems. For a while, I even had a little Tile button/sticker wedged inside the back, right behind the silicone hinge part in back, and it had no trouble charging through that, either (I replaced it with the keychain one for fear of the button falling out). Q: Does the cord plug into a usb. if not, do i need to buy yet another contraption so i can get my air pod pro 2nd generation to charge?

It plugs into the usb it comes with everything you need

Q: Is there a right/wrong way to place the AirPods? It hasn't charged them in 2 hours.

When you plug in the charger, there should be a blue light in front of the charger. If there is no blue light, there maybe something wrong with the charger
