Dungeons & Dragons: Rock Paper Wizard

LENGTH: about 30 mins. PLAYERS: 3-6 players. THEME: Fantasy, social deduction, "take that!", party game MECHANISMS: simultaneous player action, action pool OVERVIEW: This is rock, paper scissor, the gamer version. 5 cards will be placed on the table face up. These cards are essentially spells with hand gestures on theme and a little text on what effects these spells have. Everyone will choose on of these spell cards to cast at someone. Once everyone is ready everyone chants ROCK PAPER WIZARD and casts their spell by coping the hand gesture on the spell you want to cast and pointing it at the person you want to affect. The spells often affect the placement of your characters on a track to reach some gold. The player or players in the lead will get 5gp 1 of the 5 spells is discarded and a new one is drawn and the round starts over. OBJECTIVE: first person to 25gp is winner COMPONENTS: lots of card board money tokens, a little board to track players, different wizard tokens to identify each other, tarot size cards for the spell cards Pretty much all the components are cardboard. REVIEW: This game is small in physical size and game length but it packs a punch. This game has elements lots of elements found in Poker. This game forces you to think quick on your feet; especially since the spells resolve in turn order, a la MTG. The depth of the game is mild and comparable to games like Liar's Dice. PROS: quick ,fun, replay ability is high unique party game simple rules no player elimination CONS: The "take that !" element of the game isn't everyone's cup of tea SIMILAR TO: Rock Paper Scissor, Liar's Dice, Poker, some racing games?

Being a long time D&D player, and an avid board gamer, this game is something I was interested in as soon as I heard about it. Of course this is not really anything like D&D, and is not an in-depth game, but it is basically rock, paper, scissors with D&D spells, and it is really fun. The game is very easy to understand, and the rules are very well written. A lot of games have a few sections in the rules that leave you unsure of exactly how a certain aspect of the game works, but this covers everything just fine. As I previously said, it's not an in-depth game, but is great for lighthearted fun with a group of friends. It's a great filler for when you don't have time for longer games, and it's better than other games of that type that I own. With 3 players, each game we've played has lasted about 15 minutes. The box says 30 minutes which would probably be just about right with 5 or 6 players. If you like the occasional lighter, less serious game and enjoy D&D to the point that you'd enjoy the crossover of the D&D spells replacing rock, paper, scissors, this would make a great addition to your collection.

Gameplay The game itself can be confusing at first but with a few trial runs and referring to the instruction you would enjoy playing this specially making about 23 different gestures along the game. 2. Pieces The item has a complete set of gold token, characters and other but keep in mind to get a ziplock or a place to store this because this are bit small, small enough to get lost easily when not fixed properly. 3. Time A great way to spend a few minutes with friends, even family, if you guys are in to it, a way to practice quick thinking, sportmanship, and wits as well.

This is a simple party game, and it works well for that. I would say it is best for teens and younger, but I am 55 and I like it. It is a dexterity game; you will be making lots of hand gestures.

Overall this is a fun game that is easy to pick up. You do not need to know anything about Dungeons & Dragons to play this game. It plays better with more people. I have not got the expansion yet but I have played it and it is a nice addition to the game. Probably good for people who aren't really into board games but are willing to participate anyway and may find this game fun.

A very quick and geeky fun game that's easy to learn for the group. Who doesnt enjoy a little role play with their tabletop group. The turn order can be a little chaotic sometime due to game mechanics but that's part of the theme and fun. Overall its enjoyable and easy to learn. Be the mage to end up with the gold!

My group of 4 loved playing this! Instructions do take a bit to learn. The magic surge is probably the hardest concept. It's funny to remember your hand sign and youre like "wait no this one, my hand isn't doing what my brain said to do!"

Es una buen juego para partidas rápidas pues es un "piedra, papel o tijera" pero evolucionado, y para mas de 4 personas, técnicamente se puede jugar de 3 pero pierde mucho chiste. Se sacan 4 tarjetas que muestran la forma de lanzar el "hechizo" y su efecto, como un piedra papel o tijera, se cuenta y se lanza el hechizo elegido al mismo tiempo que los demás, y quien tenga la poción de "SPEED" empieza a resolver el efecto, así hasta dar la vuelta al turno. en verdad es muy divertido pues es un todos contra todos con posiciones de manos para castear los hechizos, lo recomiendo ampliamente

This is my go to game for "we need to kill 15 minutes in between games". on board game nights we whip this out while waiting for more people to arrive, in between games while waiting for pizza, and other short bursts. The game is easy to learn, and is fast without being unfair. everyone feels like they can win up until the game is over, which is fun!

I've got quite a big collection of board games now and this is one of my favorites. Easy to set up very quick and very enjoyable. The rounds only take a few minutes each and its been quite fun to play with the max players and with minimum. Dont really need to know anything about dungeons and dragons to enjoy the game, can be played with all the family
