Patterns from Islamic architecture and art that are a rich and wonderful source for those wanting to explore the boundaries of art and mathematics. The patterns in this book are from some of the worldโs great mosques, as well as mosaics, doors and windows from the Muslim world. Each is explored and demonstrated so that they can be used in your own designs. They are perfect follow up activities for trips to these magnificent places. Robert Field has travelled extensively and has taken his camera and a keen eye with him wherever he has gone. Many people will be both surprised and delighted by the sheer number and variety of interesting patterns that he has discovered. This is one of a series of Geometric Patterns books that will appeal both to those who have a particular interest in the topic covered but also to those who are looking for a rich resource of pattern designs. Review: Tesselation Collection - This little book provides a satisfying variety of patterns taken from tiles, windows and walls. The author provides a repeat analysis for each pattern. Review: Ebook version is so tiny and barely legible. - I bought the Kindle edition to save money and space. The content looks great but it appears small in Kindle reader. I donโt have the option of zooming or changing the font size. Leaving one star because the ebook version is barely legible and it sucks because I want to see the diagrams in detail but the software itself doesnโt allow me. I am disappointed with Kindle in general.

An excellent book, but it relies too heavily on grids to describe the patterns
I have knocked one star off my review of this excellent book, because it relies far too heavily on grids to describe the patterns. Many patterns are better made using a ruler and compass, and it is a shame that this technique is not illustrated in the book. The book identifies the unit cell for each pattern allowing for infinite tessellation.

Great source book for ideas
If you design your own quilts this is well worth a look. This is padding because Amazon dont like short reviews!
