Good quality contacts, easy to assemble
The contact fastening mechanism allows the use of stranded wires. The wires are kept in place and the strands do not spread out uncontrollably. There is enough space in the enclosure for thick wires. The minimum gauge that allows for the wire to be fastened well seems to be 12AWG. Of course for full current capability you should use 8AWG wires or better.

Quality Plug !!! No regrets after install and hard use.
I don't write many reviews but was most impressed with this plug. #1) the plastic is sturdy, no concerns with durability. #2) The handle makes pulling it out of the socket a breeze. #3) the cable retention design allows for various sizes of cable through a unique design. #4) The wire connection allows for excellent contact with the blades. #5) I measured the temperatures of the socket under about 38amps of load and only measured a couple degree rise. I saw some photos of failed sockets with folks charging their Tesla's. That is probably closer to the rated 50A but can't imagine an issue with that if you get good wire insertion and contact. Finally, I saw some comments about how it was difficult to tighten the screws. I attached a picture showing how the blades remove so that you can get good torque on the connections. No regrets, bought two of them for generator connections.

Camco's 50 Amp Male RV Plug: High Quality & Excellent Installation Instructions
When our RV's 50 amp male plug started to come away from its cord, it was time to replace it. Although there are a lot of choices, we went with Camco as they produce quality parts. This plug was no exception. My wife and I carefully followed the installation instructions, which were impressive. They told us exactly how to cut, prepare, and run each individual wire. Although 6 gage wire isn't the easiest to run, if one follows the instructions, you will be successful.

Good for use with heavy cable/a little light on build quality
I like that it has a handle so that it will be easy to pull out of a receptacle. The build quality is disappointing. I think it will perform alright for my use on a generator where (Hopefully) it won't be pulled in and out of a receptacle a lot like it would on an RV. My concern is that the plug part itself is screwed together, not bolted through like most heavy duty plugs. The clamp for the wire is bolted through to something imbedded in the case, but not with nuts that you could replace if one stripped. The screws that hold the business part of the plug screw into plastic. I was careful not to overtighten, i.e., not tighten them down as firmly as I would in a nut and bolt assembly. I'm using 6/3 wire to build a generator to house cable. I tried using a "50 amp" plug from Lowes. It was bolted together, but was way to small to use with heavy cable. I was going to make this a 3 star rating, but it is better than any alternative I could find. As you can see in the photo, there is plenty of room for heavy cable. The ground wire in a 6/3 is bare so I stripped some casing off a neutral wire and put it around the ground to provide additional safety. Even so, the added insulation does not touch either the neutral or the hot. In the Lowes plug they were both touching hard.

A great product.
Having a handle attached to this plug end makes this a great product. It's a well thought out, well manufactured/designed product. This plug end was attached to the end of a twenty-five foot SOOW, 10/4 cable to be used as a jumper between an emergency generator and an electrician installed, 50A RV receptor on the side of the house next to the electric service box for easy service disconnect.Plug ends this hefty are hard to pull out, especially if inside an all weather outlet cover box where there's little room to maneuver your hand. With the addition of the handle, the plug end is much easier to remove. This is a good thing. :)The assembly takes a bit of time at the project table as the leads have to be cut and stripped to specific lengths specified in the directions. It's not a difficult task, but it is a bit of a time consuming pain to make sure it's measured and done right. The more care one takes in cutting and stripping the cable wires to well defined direction specs, the more easily the assembly will go.Tip: When assembling the cable strain relief collar, add a dab of latex/siliconized caulk to the inside and outside of the strain relief collar as well as the small gap between the strain relief collar and the plug body. This will help keep snow and water out which will effectively make the plug end more water resistant. Doing so also gives the plug end a more finished look/feel. Warning: Adding the caulk in this fashion won't make the plug-end "waterproof." A cable end of this kind will be used out in the weather and considering the amps this plug-end is designed to push, "more" water resistant is a good thing; peace of mind.I found this product to be the top dog of this group and for those with a "Prime" membership, two-day shipping is included. At current gas prices, this eliminates the need to drive to a RV or hardware store hunting for an item of this kind.

Very nice!
Made from a heavy plastic. Easy to install this 50 amp receptacle. I used a 6 gauge generator cord with this one. Plenty of room to neatly place all four wires in the housing.

I have found Camco connectors to be the best, well worth the extra cost.
I am a value-conscious (cheap) senior citizen. I usually buy the least expensive items available, and make them work. I have found that lower quality connectors are difficult to install, usually requiring the wire to be wrapped around the terminal screws. This is difficult with 10 or 12 gauge wire, often resulting in a loose connection that overheats. Most Camco connectors I've used have an additional metal piece on the terminal screw that is "sandwiched" between the screw head and the wire. The wire is then "sandwiched" between this metal piece and the terminal. This allows the wire to remain straight, greatly simplifying installation. Other Camco connectors have a hole in the plastic base that the wire is inserted into, and then captured my the terminal screw. These are even easier to use, but I've only seen them on connectors for lighter gauge wires.I find the ease of installation well worth the slight extra cost. I don't want to spend my recreation time working on the RV. Not to mention the possible safety concerns brought about by loose or overheated wires.

Low Cost, medium quality plug
This is a plastic mold in two pieces. Not the greatest quality but if it's used occasionally and with care, I am sure it will last a few years. Connecting the wires is easy and fast, I use it with an 8 AWG SOOW cable.
