My teen daughter purchased this for her boyfriend for Valentines Day. Pretty - but not too effeminate due to the dark blue color. As other reviewers have noted, it comes in a nice box for presentation. She arranged the twinkle lights on it before gifting it to him.

The rose/leaves are very delicate
This is a great idea for anniversaries/someone special. Depending on how much of a perfectionist you are.... I would recommend opening the box first to take care of the issue of setting up the strand of lights inside the capsule. The leaves of the rose are very delicate so be careful when you set it up!!

A little dimmer than expected but still functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The packaging was nicer than expected and my girlfriend loves it as an additional night light for her work space. The lights are not quite as bright as the pictures would have you believe, but they're still fine for their intended purpose.
