Great product, very easy to set up.
Great product, very easy to set up. I used it to update/replace the Mega Pi and proprietary software/firmware supplied with the original LaserBot from MakeBlock. Now using GRBL 1.1f driver which makes it possible to use lots of other software. It makes upgrading the laser much easier as well. I did upgrade the motor drivers supplied from A4988 to DVR8825 to get more steps/mm on my small laser engraver. Very happy with this purchase.

Nice simple controller for a small CNC machine.
Nice simple controller for a small CNC machine. Used this on a small CNC machine that wasn't working right. This worked good and the price was right

Close to no tech support
No documentation. Tech support is minimal and the support consisted of, it will not work on a Mac and you need to run it on a machine that has Windows 7 installed. Microsoft doesnโt even support that platform anymore. I will say they answered me within a day each time I emailed them. Never could even get a driver to load on my PC that would recognize a connection to the USB port. It looks great and has easy connections to be made. However; buyer be warned unless you already have the same card in your machine that worked previously, it wonโt!

Great controller for the price!
I gave it four stars because of the lack of documentation and horrible customer service. None of my questions were answered fully if at all. But I am here to help! The documentation they give using the link at the bottom of the sale page (look hard but it is there) is good but it's missing a lot of needed information. It came with GBRL 1.1f, I loaded 1.1h because I wanted to use the gantry squaring function that 1.1h offers and capitalize on minor bug fixes. The 1.1f firmware that's installed is set up for what you would use on a standard 3-axis router(as stated in the ad). I used this for a homebuilt laser and I could not be happier. Know that the firmware that is installed requires 3-axis homing XYZ. If you are using it for a 2-axis machine you will need to change the firmware. Don't be afraid though. There is a ton of information on the web and the GBRL Github site has all the information you need. The Lightburn forum is a big help as well. The biggest thing to keep in mind is to treat this controller like an Arduino Nano or Uno with a CNC shield nothing more, nothing less (Pin A4 on the controller is the same as Pin A4 on a Nano/Uno and so on). If using the gantry squaring function in 1.1h, use the "Protoneer V3 51" option and know that there is a compiling issue (line 600 in the report.c file is missing a }). Just follow the directions for set up in the config.h and all will be good. I couldn't tell you about the longevity of this controller but after everything I have put it through, the on/off cycles and many firmware changes it's still working great. The only issue I have found is that the 5v pwm/ttl output really only puts out 4.8v at max. In my case, this wasn't a big deal. Other than that as long as the price stays affordable ($30), you can't go wrong with this controller.

No Documentation
This seems like a nice little board. But, there is no documentation. This is normal for a lot of DIY CNC stuff but usually you can go to the manufacturer and download it. Went to the Doesbot site and all there is are the pictures that come with the device descriptions. I did contact support and, to their credit I got fast responses. I asked for documentation but they sent the same pictures from the product description. I took my Keystudio Arduino shield off and replaced it with this one. All I got was the GRBL 1.1 response to my UGS program. The steppers did not lock and who knows what needs to be jumped etc. Again no documetation and I am a stickler for that. I don't like guessing. I am returning the board.

Simple and functional
I use this for my Workbee 1510 router. Pros: less susceptible to EMI. A basic grbl board. Simple. Functional. It seems to just work. Cons: Limited documentation (but not many boards really have any). No wiring or connectors so you'll need to build them with a DuPont connector kit and it will take hours and they could've just included some. It's a good board though and I like it. It also works with external stepper drivers.
