Lana paper mill’s origin dates back to 1590, when it was founded by master paper maker Demenge Harlachol. The current paper mill is set up on the banks of the Muhlwasser in Strasbourg, France. The high-quality water supplied by the deep wells provides optimum conditions to produce excellent paper.Lanaquarelle is the jewel in the crown of the Lana Fine Art Paper range. Their master papermakers manufacture this acid free, pH neutral, 100% cotton rag watercolour paper in the old-fashioned way, adhering strictly to traditional techniques. Manufactured on a cylinder mould and gelatine bonded, working with this paper makes every watercolour moment a real pleasure. The manufacture of paper on the cylinder mould gives it the look and feel of handmade paper, but with much better consistency.Lanaquarelle is extremely forgiving and is sized in the vat and then after the sheet is formed, to give it tremendous strength and colour hold out. It is ideal for wet on wet work as well as dry brush techniques. The paper is ideal for watercolour, wash drawing, gouache, acrylic, pen & ink. It is also suitable for Inkjet, Intaglio, Silkscreen, Letterpress, Offset, Serigraphy, Pastel & Charcoal. The sheet has gained enormous popularity amongst printmakers as a result of not being heavily sized and works incredibly well for flatbed lithography, intaglio and serigraphy.

Excellent
Very good quality watercolour paper. Colours flow nicely and appear vibrant. Paper can handle multiple washes. It’s slightly cheaper than Arches and is of comparable quality so I buy it very often. Highly recommended.

Excellent
Beautiful white textured paper. Wonderful experience to paint on this surface. Colours look vibrant on this paper as it absorbs water very well. Lifting the colours however is not easy. Overall I loved it.

Superb alternative to Arches and other expensive brands out there
This is an excellent 100% Cotton Water colour paper from 'Lanaquarelle', a 500+ year old French company still following old traditions/methods making water colour paper from rags, plus these are mould made which you can't get at this price nowadays in the market.1) The paper can handle multiple 'EVEN' washes,2) 'SIZING' is good, Blending is above average,3) It is tough, Won't buckle easily, even after multiple washes4) Colours look vibrant after washesThis is a good alternative for those who can't afford big expensive brands such as ARCHES, Fabriano Artistico, Saunders, Hahnemuhle etc.It is still bit pricey for Indians, but it is worth. When it comes to Water colours investing more on paper is important than spending money on paints and brushes.

Excellent watercolor paper
I usually buy Fabriano Artistico but thought I'd try Lana aquarelle once and purchased a pad of 12 A4 sheets. Not at all disappointed. The paper is excellent- can handle multiple washes and techniques like lifting. I've also noticed that colours appear more vibrant than they do on the Fabriano Artistico. The product was also delivered on time.
