reliable brand, good product
needed something to help spread salt after it snows and this works perfectly. holds enough for an average walkway and driveway without needing to refill and allows you to select a few different options of how much you want to spread at a time. Also works for things like grass seed or anything you'd need to spread

Large
A lot of shakers out there are pretty tiny and you need to refill it to cover your driveway and sidewalk. Not this one. It holds a generous amount of salt. I also use it in the spring to spread grass seed on bald patches

Worked great a Lil stubborn sometimes to get it to lock but other than that it worked awesomely
It's easy to fill but sometimes stubborn to lock it on but other than that it works great..

Stiff turn
It’s never fun refilling this thing. Just the stiff turning of it makes it feel like a real chore! Not a good feeling in the middle of snow shoveling. Maybe look for a better one.

Could be better
It works well for me. I have a really long sidewalk (100ft?), so it would be better if it held 7lbs instead of 5.But my only real gripe is that the body is relatively smooth. With gloves on or cold hands, it's difficult to get a grip to twist it open or closed. If there were more texture or some sort of bump...

It worked for deicer
It's easy to hold a pretty big. It's OK nothing special. I use it to distribute deicer and find that I have to use the largest holes for that and shake it pretty hard. There's nothing wrong with it. I just didn't love it enough to give it five stars so I gave it four. You can use just one hand to shake it and distribute the stuff.

Great idea and good product!
I really like this product. I think the idea & design are great, but the dial to adjust how the granules come out is difficult to change/rotate (especially after the dust from the ice-melt is in it)! I would definitely recommend this product with the disclosure of the difficulty of use.

Feels solid and easy to use
I almost didn’t buy this product because of some reviews having problems with screwing on the lid. I am a 75 year old woman with small, arthritic hands. The first thing I did when I opened the box was screw, unscrew and screw the lid on. I think the trick is to make sure the lid is even on the top of the container before starting to screw and use the handle to screw on slowly. This seems to work for me. I filled the container this afternoon in prep for snow in the forecast for this weekend. The weight with melter is fine and doesn’t hurt my wrist as the larger container you buy melt in did. I like the different size holes and as a gardener will be able to use this next spring and summer. I am pleased with this purchase.

Worth the money
Does the job. Distributes evenly as I spread out fertilizer for my small lawn. Happy with my purchase.

Works well
Got this to spread volcanic sand to improve traction on icy walkways. I was using a hand spade before but that ended up wasting a lot the sand as I couldn't spread it thinly and evenly and it was just landing in clumps. With the Snow Joe handheld multi-purpose spreader, I used the opening with the smaller holes and I was able to spread the sand evenly and use less sand over a wider area. With the different sized openings, I can see using this for various gardening and outdoor uses.
