Mickey-Mick and Mackey-Mack - World Adventure!

I purchased this book for my 3 year old nephew, who asks me to read it to him again and again (and again!). The story captures his imagination, and sparks his curiosity about the world. This book shows great teamwork and problem-solving, at just the right level. Patricia Joyce Haas writes with a comforting rhythm, and the rhymes are great fun. We can't wait to see what else this author has in store for us!

Mickey-Mick and Mackey-Mack have been in frequent bedtime rotation since we picked up the book. My three year old very much enjoys the rhymes, the story, the pictures, and being able to relate the locations to various maps we have scattered around. It's also inspired us to take some imaginative leaps of our own.

Free spirited Mackey-Mack tries to convince his bookworm friend Mickey-Mick to try the next best thing - whether its climbing higher in the trees or riding a cloud to France and Italy. A thunderstorm springs up and prevents them from moving on to Spain but they quickly find themselves safely home again and looking forward to their next adventure. I like children's books that carry a message. This one could easily have been about valuing our friends for their differences or how being too careful can limit you. But this book is neither here nor there and while Mickey-Mick and Mackey-Mack are fun alliterations to read aloud I think there are better picture books to choose, especially when a child wants to read it over and over again.

Very cute book. Nice story, well-written and adorable illustrations. I would definitely recommend this too elementary or pre-school age children and children's librarians.

This is my kids' new favorite picture book. My 8-year-old loves reading it to my 4-year-old, who can't get enough of Mick and Mack. The rhymes and rhythm rollick along, taking readers on a whirlwind adventure of "two good friends and four fast feet."Here's a review from my 8-year-old: "Adorable, cute, funny and a very sweet story. My favorite part is when they land in France. My favorite character is Mick. I like him because he likes adventuring, and exploring and because he is funny."And from my 4-year-old: "I most love Mick. I especially like his cartwheel!"A very fun read that doesn't get old (which is really saying something, as this book is on high rotation in our house!).

My husband and I managed to get this book and it was well worth it. It has become one of our regular bedside stories for our 3 and 5 year old daughters. The story is well written, with excellent tempo (in which the rhymes are intricately worded with the cadence of classic Dr. Seuss books), and is pleasantly informative in both the vocabulary used along with pictures and stories about foreign countries and locations. We highly recommend this to all parents who wish to share an exciting and educational adventure with their children.

My children and I love Mickey-Mick and Mackey-Mack because it is an adventure story that is really fun and exciting to read. The narrative and clever rhymes have inspired many of our own imaginative activities at home. The story also introduces foreign countries and famous landmarks which has left my children with an enthusiastic desire to travel the world. Overall...a great story and picture book!

My toddler enjoys this book very much but I think I enjoy it more because it has fun ryhming versus that make you want to keep reading. It's beautifully illustrated. The pictures demonstrate Mickey Mick and Mackey Mack's feelings throughout the adventure. I think it would make a great library storytime book.
